2004 WRX Wagon

Default 04 wrx AC climate control partially working.

I recently swapped the stereo on the car and noticed that the climate control wasnít working properly. First, when I turn on the dash lights, the climate controls is the only thing not lit up. I didnít notice this since I donít really drive at night. Second, AC, rear defroster buttons and defroster donít work. Everything else works but that. Temperature, speed of fans and even where it comes out. It doesnít engage the ac compressor at all. I did check all the fuses as well and AC relay and seem to be good. But itís hard to say if my ac compressor went bad if the button doesnít even turn on. Faulty climate control unit? Any ideas? Could this be a sign to get an sti? All jokes aside, should I try a new unit and see if that helps? Thanks!

A number of folks have had problems with the contacts of the connector going to the control unit. Check for burned contacts in the connector. Here is a link with pictures of such an issue:
