Good luck!

I was in awe myself. Once I saw the wheels in good shape and all 4 were on, I knew this was a must buy.

If you guys aren't following my IG (@elcucuy _sti) you missed nothing. Posted some work I was doing to the car. Engine seems to run TITS, slight misfire at idle, goes away w/ accel (I'll be going over my wiring once more. Joyfully we rev'd and idled the neighbors crazy for about a half hour trying to get the T stat to open. Discovering a squirting radiator, we shut down shop.

Idles great w/ MAF besides misfire
Chebay filter is mad JDM
NO cel lights so I haven't installed the KS.

Was on the verge of buying some fancy aluminum radiator when I remembered that I'd be receiving a JDM front clip in a few days to fix my bugeye. I stole the radiator from that clip and installed it on the GC last night. Cool findings, the coupe came with a fan in the trunk, score no more wishing to find another fan, my 1 fan issue quickly became 2. To make this task plug and play I disassembled all 4 shrouds, separating blades and motors. I then mounted the GC motors to the GD shrouds for that perfect fit onto the GD core.

Donor

horrible picture I didn't even capture the differences at all, but, hope you get the idea. Zap all items facing you starting with the blade 10mm, then it's a clear shot to the 3x 10's for the motor, note orientation because of the fan harness, swap it all over to the GD shroud and you're done.
kr

Here's where we are now in the bay while I wait for the pump from the chop shop to arrive.

TDL Before we take a test drive:
-Front Subframe w/ new rack and pinion (Given the unknown state of the current rack and pinion setup, which is bothering me; I have plans to source and 04-07 front subframe and rack and pinion, then have a steering linkage fab'd up. The current one trips me out.)
-new tires or sell BBs and install some rims I have here.
-or maybe sell both sets BBS and rims I have here to go 5x114

Did you replace whatever was bent on the passenger rear side ? From the early pictures it looks like it has significant damage. Is the unibody straight ?

That damage was back in 2011/2014. I had found those images on the web during a title check. As for the unibody, I haven't noticed anything of merit visually but I haven't dug that deep. Funny thing is I'm actively looking for a collision repair manual, I plan to redo the front core support myself.

So there was no body damage when you found it at the junk yard ?
Why was it at the junk yard ?

outside of the damage the junkyard imposed to the door and trunk floor, none. nothing striking; no collision damage.

this question stumps me even today, especially after today. Went for a quick drive up the block without a P/S pump or alternator belt and everything seems just about normal. I do need to fix something in the steering column, or rack. The column has play like a tilt column, even when locked.

Took off a pair of BBS, one needed a flat repair but the space savers looked so good I threw them all 4 on....damn I love it! Temporary but I love the look.

Interesting, what a great canvas. I’d love a shell like that to put all my ver 7 stuff into. Glad to see you are saving it.

I’m too territorial a dog yo, but thanks for the kind offer. Message me when you are ready to let it go. I have a rust free twin to your bugeye, slow moving project I keep debating what to do with.

Clean title, 140,000 miles, bent valves.

Haha I'm the same way. I can't fault you for that. Congrats on that black bug, such a gem with good mileage. Slap the v7 swap in there and then save the full WRX swap for the GM ***55358;***56601;***55356;***57342;

I think I’m going to drop a JDM ej205 with AVCS into it with a vf43 I have on a shelf. I’ll do fuel injectors, fuel pump, exhaust and see how I like it. My son is approaching driving age so I may give it to him if he is into it. He likes the new mustang better, can’t blame him.

I'm so obsessed with trying to just enjoy this car, but in the back of my head knowing I nearly have everything for a full 05 sti swap kind of makes me want to swap it. On the other hand building an era correct car has me eyeballing an ej20K full swap; for now, wait for something catastrophic. Your shelves sound like my type of heaven haha. Your son surely has a tough choice to make amongst the cars. Being a fan of the newer R badged mustangs myself, either way he chooses it's not a bad first car.

found the issue to the wonky steering I experienced last drive. The column adjustment was off preventing the proper seating needed for stability. I still plan on replacing this bushing collar.

after the 02 P/S pump arrived in poor shape, I sourced an 05 sti pump & bracket, had to hit the dealer for the adjustment bolt/tensioner assembly. Using the SPUSA P/S line kit, I was able to situtate everything, all fitted, bled and working correctly.

as for today, it was an interesting waste of $20. Excited to cruise this thing to get the brake and light inspection done, I washed it up to hit the gas station. $30 on 10 please, just a half tank cruise feeling eerie. As the meter approached $20, I hear Niagara falls in the distance..... as I peek under the car, I just see streams of gas pouring from side B of the tank. Idiots I thought, hopes and dreams fleeting, but I was the bigger idiot for not noticing the second hole in the tank. Well back home we go for the fix, after alerting staff, I drove home watching every bit of that 20 leave a trail of all the way back to my driveway.

please ignore temporary plate swap LOL #thuglifechoseme

hit autozone once more for their "tank repair", I like the jb weld stuff better but is more susceptible to fuel during initial application.

after finding the side markers in the trunk, I decided to tackle that install as well, which lead me to an ABS harness damage and repair.

Your persistence is admirable, it’s a good thing you take a humorous approach to every challenge. It’s looking good, persistence pays off.

I'm far too blessed man. I have nothing, I am nothing, and will return to nothing. Being blessed with a plethora of stuff to pass the time can only beheld with humor.

Thank You. The wife came out after the wash and said, "wow it's pretty. I'd drive that, amazing what a wash can do."
