#tipshat I think cars should always reflect the creator, anything less would be a cookie cut or catalog.

update more goods sent TO-MEI! If anyone is wondering if I have a Tomei fetish the answer is yes. My bucket list does include a Tomei EJ26, now will my wallet ever agree is another story LOL.

some basic updates as the waiting continues for my Tomei DP ...

I got tired of the faux carbon wrap on the trunk, so after our rainy weather here in socal I removed it. The trunk is a tad beat, but still looks better without the wrap.

after the rain, I cleaned the interior w/ some chem guys products.

my custom plate has arrived (el cucuy).

1200CC Deleen Injectors for E85 also showed up. I think I will also convert to the parallel fuel setup. Thoughts suggestions?

To-mei Thursday is tomorrow, so just in time!!! Thanks to the rotten scoundrel krisf5228 who tried to con a few members out of their money for an intake inlet; this arrived later than planned. TY paypal because they reclaimed my funds. It was hard finding this item in stock, in black, but not impossible. Thanks to Mr.Akin over at MAP I secured this beauty. Waiting for the DP is just killing me now, I'm growing impatient and overly anxious.

more fuel mods rolling in. I totally forgot that I have an 06 sti gas tank in storage. I think it's time to ditch the RS tank. Walbro and Anti slosh tank pictured below.

I've also read a lot on jdm pinks cost vs bushing replacement, to save myself the headache of pressing, cutting, etc. I swallowed a small non immediate purchase in the name of "upgrades." TY @Speycaster46.

Was driving home on a route I don't normally take and spotted this little area.....so I pulled over and took some pics. Horrible because it made me realize: not only do I need car parts, I need some new camera gear. HAHA. Maybe I'll treat myself for new years. Unfortunately until the car is mechanically to my standard, I can't jump forward on what's next; for now, enjoy the visuals as-is.

Until I address the flares, that grow more hideous at each stare, no. The beauty of the lines are so far gone. It’s a heavy undertaking to have someone do it right. I’m heavily persuaded to just buy the AWB flares and call it a day. My next option would be to put the panels back to stock and just go with the tried and true Karlton flares. It’s a headache just thinking of it all.

Parts, parts, parts, boring......where's IIR w/ my tomei DP?!? LOL JK I told them I'd wait. Realistically, I'm just ready to do some work and enjoy the car out of limp mode. Anyway, I don't wan't complaining to be my legacy, onto the uppers of this holiday season. The family and I had a lovely Christmas; we hope you all did as well. We were blessed to have all my side nieces & nephews join us, two of them we haven't seen in over 4yrs, What a joy. Their individual characters are hilarious. Three of these tyrants are mine, staring with the oldest and tallest. The one directly below with the bow, is my middle daughter, and in front of her is my son, heir to the clan. Simplified, the rest are for my brother.

Onto the pics and updates:
My wife must have heard my cries apparently; I received a new T6 bundle for Christmas although I asked for nothing. She's an attentive listener, last I mentioned a camera was black friday. The week before Christmas I had surprised her with the wood flooring. A good friends father took the lead on the install, he and I did 1 room, in his absence I handled the other 3.

GDT coolant mod arrives.

FINALLY!! Tomei DP arrives.

Mason & Amanda, Thank you both so much! Exceptional customer service at IIR (import image racing)!! It was worth the wait.

"check out the weld's dude"

Some goods from DrnknZag - Thank you sir.

Lastly, I got off my butt and got the over methodical longer bolts for TGV to Cylinder w/ 3mm phenolic spacer. I had to buy 10 sets, but oh well. If anyone needs some LMK, good in-stock.

Minor updates. I think my motor is on the brink of crapping out. It's my fault and I'm ok with that. Driving with "base maps" are never recommended. It starts, yet smokes (gaskets, turbo seal, possibly valve seals), but most recently I've heard a "cackle sound," a light tapping. I've sidelined the car to reduce any future damage and have began to plan a build. I may have to finish and sell-off a project car to make this happen sadly. But I love my boo-ba-ru; as I call it.

The demon trunk I ordered months ago has arrived, great timing lol. Seems to have a beautiful weave and construction by visual assessment and that's about it; we are up to date.

Decided before I condemn my engine, that I'd give it a fair share of diag. if you care to listen, here's a short vid of what I hear.

Top side

from below

I dropped the oil pan yesterday and didn't find any signs of bearing carnage. Spying some signs of bad exhaust manifold gaskets, I pulled the exh. mani and up pipe.

poor exh. design, another issue it was creating w/out me knowing. It didn't start leaking until today.

The gasket leak areas; which i now suspect could very well be the "rod knock" noise. I will install my tomei header and up pipe; then re-test after the new gaskets arrive.

That did not sound at all like rod knock, I think you're safe there.

While you have the pan off it would be a great time for some Killer B grades.

Yessir, I plan to purchase the complete oil pan kit w/ pick up and windage tray. It will wait for a week, because I'm still paranoid. I'll fit the new parts, old pan, then re-test. If everything checks out I will move forward and order the KB stuff. The engine is coming out in the near future, I would like to refresh quite a few things (if everything checks out). If it doesn't, engine comes out either way. I won't let the lazy factor settle in again, I refuse. If need be, I will pull the pan again for said update.

a few posts back I posted a turbo I rebuilt, under the assumption the one on my car was on its way out (I've identified the old one as a jdm forester turbo :P). After pulling it off, I rationalized I could have been wrong. The smoke I seen bellowing once in a blue moon was clearly the torn PCV valve. The good news is, I'll be installing the turbo I rebuilt.

"turbo smoking"

the culprit

Ordered up some parts, they all came quickly. Hopefully tomorrow before work I'll get some wrenching time in.

Replaced the PCV and drain back hose today.

ended up worm-clamping the lower (more updates & install pics tomorrow)

"paranoia will destroy ya" - 2mex.

oil cooler dusted off, resealed. Cooler line and clamps replaced.

loosely fitted the UEL and up-pipe before work, I want to find new shorter joint connection hardware. I also was a 3 bolt gasket short, which I purchased on my way home.

I also added the support bracket, pet peeve.

VF48 finally made it's way on after a re-shuffle of the Up & UEL. A few things to button up in the morning; then it's add some fluids and fire it up.

back together for now. My super sonic hearing is still convinced we are in some early phases of rod knock. Has anyone every monitored such a thing? Rod knock, before it becomes the ROD KNOCK?

my last vid, phone "was" on the block itself, the audio will more than likely be loud please adjust your vol.

then i stumbled upon this gem.....a beacon of hope [edit: then I watched my video once more, and the hope left.]
