I'm swapping my 02 bugeye wagons trans right now it is a 4.11 jdm legacy trans and The diff it came with was a 4.44 which I thought was a mix up. Should I just get the 4.11 LSD or???

Seems like a mix-up...possibly.
If it was mine I would spend extra efforts making sure the installed parts all match up. Even if that means opening up the Rdiff cover and pulling the extension housing to count teeth. What trans code is this JDM legacy 4.11 5MT (TY75######)? As far as I know it should be a 1.000 TR 5MT. Are you absolutely certain that the R160 that shipped with it is a 4.444? Simply going with which R160 ratio "sounds right" might risk damaging that 5MT.

Question Clutch slave?

I'm doing a 2004 4.44 tranny into my 2002 RS. Reverse of the OP's swap

The only snag has been the clutch slave. On the 02 Tranny the slave mounts ahead of the clutch fork, on the 04 it mounts behind.

Clutch fork is the same part number for both.... I can't see how that would work the slave mounted aft.

Thoughts?

Bummer, i have no idea. how do i find this out? will the code tell when where and when it came from? The shop i purchased the transmission told me "this is a direct bolt on for your 2003"

I was given this car with a bad transmission and been working on this car since December. the light is the end of the tunnel

Will check the code when i get home

If the trans has the code on it still then you can look it up. Cross reference the trans code with info on Rallispec's website. They have most codes listed in their data base
