Just out of curiosity, what is this "hidden menu mod" for the radio that you mentioned towards the end of the post?

thanks for the information. exactly what i been looking for. I took my 2017 wrx 6speed into the shop friday for lack of boost. i was only hitting 9.9-10.9 in 15F temp. googled for 6+ hours the night i noticed and came across sooo many reasons as to why it could be doing it... but here's where it confuses me. the shop said, my car indeed had a problem but the master tech was even puzzled. so i waited till he came back and he replied. the tech is taking it for a test drive to see if they resolved the problem but their still not sure whats going on with it...? made no sense to me. so when he got back the guy told me it was my cat. converter plugging. my car has only 4200 miles though? i asked if hes ever had that happen before. he said, once 2 years ago. needless to say, the new cats ordered and will be replaced soon as it arrives.
Would't it be something up the line causing my cat to clog? I only run premium gas. i don't really get on my car, which maybe could cause some build up? also, i've noticed after being in the shop. they must've re-flashed my. car or something? seems to idle differently. and i notice my a/c belt kicking on and off more frequent. jumping my rpm's to 900 then slowly back down to normal idle. and last, i noticed alot of soot on my exhaust tips. i recently got the sti performance cat-back. figured the soot is normal on the DI engine. just looking for clarification. Thanks, Brandon |

Could the soot be related to the egr? Last edited by atoma; 02-19-2018 at 11:04 AM. |

I second the advise for the secret setting in the sub par radio. I found lots of vids on YouTube university but none of them are for my radio. I have a 2018 premium with the star link junk. There are VERY FEW settings to play with that I can find. I knew the radio was junk when I bought it. I had a little hope when I found some YouTube’s on the subject, but none are current enough to help me any. I hope there is someone on here who can help.
Separately. The only thing I found that helps is the 2 custom equalizer settings. But they don’t save? I want two settings. One for music and one for podcasts. Some podcasts or books are so damn quite! They are fine played over any other platform. It’s the car! I have to drop the highs and lows and boost the mids to help out. Then when I want to switch back to the music eq it starts from flat again!!! Why are there two custom settings then? Argh!! I love and hate you Subaru! I came from a 15’ crosstrek and I thought that one was bad. This is worse! |

Where is teh boooost?!
Lol, ok so first off I read
"First - LIKZ OMG WHERE IS TEH BOOST? Answer: It's cold. You run less boost. Nothing is wrong. Let's have this conversation again when it's summer." - I don't think this quite answers my dilemma I have a 2015 wrx and just went stage 1+ 91 oct yesterday. Prior to the tune and intake, my peak boost showed up as 21.7 psi. After the intake is installed and tune is done, my peak boost is 14.9 psi. I have gone WOT on a country road to try and see if the peak increases, but it stops at 14.9. The target boost in Cobb's map notes say 19psi +/- 1.5. I have read a couple things about trying the HWG map, but I want to make sure that's appropriate before I flash the map on and go WOT again without fully understanding what's happening. Can anyone give me some insight on this? Thanks in advance. |

Cobb makes a high wastegate version (hwg) of their ots tunes that’s meant to be used if you aren’t reaching peak boost. Try running that and see if it improves.
