Civivi was already on my radar so I checked them out again and got this Odium while it's on sale. I think it checks all my boxes and the fit & finish is great. I'm a major stickler when it comes to edge finishes and they nailed it everywhere. Besides the blade, every other rough edge is there for grip and the transitions feel so good.

Alright, I feel like I've asked this before but is Lansky still the preferred OT "easy" sharpening method/system? I had one years ago based on an OT recommendation, and liked it a lot for the cheap chefs knives I had at the time. Now I have much nicer Japanese steel... and I'd rather not f**k them up.
Yes, a true believer would invest in good wet stones but I'm looking for something a little easier. |

Lansky system works pretty well, and is essentially idiot proof. Pro tip: buy the 5 stone system and also buy the sapphire stone to use for final honing on your better blades.

If anyone wants $500, I'll gladly pay you on top of the price of the knife and shipping to me if you enter the Rexford lottery on https://tripleaughtdesign.com/every-day-capable-event/ and win.

right now I consider *all* of them as nice. I have 4 Tojiro's (and one SUPER nice Nakiri) that get used all the time. One of them is nearly baseball bat dull and the rest get used so often they are heading that way. Back when I lived some place that labor was cheap I had no problem paying $5 to have them sharpened... In Socal its $3 an inch |

Ok so now that that is over should we be staging a knife intervention with you 07?
What makes that knife so special I know nothing about them. |

I tried too and got nothing.
They give you 30 minutes to buy - my wife would have been happy "but this guy on the internet will buy it from me!" |

It's more or less like buying a Rolex. Guy makes good stuff and sells it for far less than you can buy them for on the aftermarket.

Anyone ever bought a sword? For some reason I want this falcata as an accent piece, want to talk me out of it?
It's a "pre-Roman Iberian short sword" ~25" long total and weighs ~2 lbs, an absolutely brutal weapon for enjoying the last breath of your enemy. |

Maybe scare the living **** out of someone at the door, you never know How does 5160 steel hold up over time? I think optimally you'd wear as little as possible. Last edited by richde; 10-07-2021 at 02:53 PM. |
