They are fine for the average person. I was a deck seaman and used to use knives on a daily basis. I have broken more kershaws, gerbers, and spyderco knives than I can remember. Also if you are near salt water CRKT tend to rust super fast.

My daily carry (knive) lately has been the Zero Tolerance 301 built like a tank, solid titanium fram lock slick assist, heavy s30v blade.
I also rotate it out for my emerson commander, cqc-7, combat karambit, or my Benchmade Osborne 950, or Osborne Apparition.

The 950 isn't pictured (I hadn't picked it up yet)

The Microtech ultratech6 and Benchmade 2000 stay in the safe, or come out to open letters only.

One thing I have noticed about SOGs which I really like is the jimping, its damn sharp and deep. Grabs the fat of your thumb better than any other knife I have handled.

Friend has the SOG Twitch XL Tanto and its a damn fine knife, I havn't really handled many higher end knives like these before but I find them intresting and very usefull.

Perhaps this may become another hobby of mine lol, knife collecting.

I have wood for the Benchmade Infidel.

Edit: I also really want one of those Cold Steel shovels and I'm not sure why.

it sucks, I wish I could carry a bali or an auto. Any of my emersons are way faster to open. There is just something cool about a microtech.

so why exactly are autos illegal? I never understood how that stupid law was set n place. Dont see how an auto is any more dangerous than a manual.

Meh, to each their own I guess.

I work in the service dept of a dealership, so I need something small enough to not freak out customers. And I love the assisted opening, I can pull it out, open it, and close it all while holding something in my other hand which comes in handy quite a bit.

As for dulling, yeah it's not the greatest, but I just sharpen it whenever I need to, no big deal.

Why? Because it offers a ton of bang for the buck.

The Cold Steel shovel is a good tool for the money. I've had one for years, and have used for everything from digging poop holes in the woods, to landscaping duties around the yard, to splitting wood for campfire kindling. It sharpens easily with a mill bastard file. it is probably the most useful <$20 tool I every purchased.

SOG is giving away free Micron Tanto knives for filling out an online survey.

roughly 40 questions, took about 5 minutes to fill out.

My survey was very heavy on multi-tool questions, but I think that's because of how I answered one of the first questions on the survey.

Since we're sort of on the topic of SOG, I got a SEAL Pup Elite, TiNi coated plain edge for my birthday last week. It seems to be a very nice little tool. Handy size. I look forward to using it later this spring whilst camping.

Cool!

I'm not particularly fond of SOG as a whole, but free knives are free knives.

My edc is also the kershaw 1620 in blue. It's light enough to where i don't feel it flopping around in my pocket, and has held a pretty good edge for a $40 knife. this is my second one, since i lost the first one.

What do you like? Do you use knives, or just collect? If you're a user, what do you do with you knives? Bushcraft/campcraft? Cut up/open boxes at work? Dressing game/hunting? Carving/whittling? Stabby-stabbing?

And are you partial to fixed blades or folders?

Mostly stabby-stabbing.

No, mainly for daily carry, work related, filleting homeless people..

I'm partial to folders but I need to put a decent fixed blade in my collection.
