Shift light works but no shift buzzer? Unit beeps when setting it but doesn't beep at shift points. Is this something I'm doin
After you set the shift light setting in the temp display you wil see -- turn the knob again and it will say "on" and then the buzzer will work

couldn't you just use a relay??

Default dead battery

Ok, so I did an 07 STI (limited) into an 05 Saabaru (wrx). Everything was normal. Had to trim the connectors on the STI cluster. Plugged it in. Got the buzzing noise, which is actually controllable in volume with the dash light dimmer
Also noticed that the ABS light goes out when my cruise control is enabled (Cruise light is always on).
I drove about 10 miles to a garage where I finished up installed the repainted interior pieces I was doing and the redone headliner. Started the car up after about 3 hours there and got about 2 miles before it died on me. Realized it looked like a dead battery but then thought "this sounds just like that issue where the alternator stops recharging the battery!"
So, the only wire I clipped was the A9 (orange/white) as described here:http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sho...sti+gauges+wrx
to stop the buzzing, which it did. How can I get my alternator back on????????

Turns out yes... yes you can. Did this myself today, ABS light works like it's supposed to. This was a 05 STi cluster to an 02 WRX. I suppose i could take pictures and maybe do a write up if anyone is really interested.

thats the ones i need then, id like the full defi sweep in mah bugeye. thanks for the clarification. any idea on what installation is like? it should be relatively plug and play since 02-03 usdm wrx and the jdm v8 are almost the same engine harnesses. dont quote me on it, thats an assuption but i hope its right...

i don't think i'd go as far as saying they're 'almost the same' because there really are a few huge differences i think...

but it is pretty simple i think you have to just disconnect one of the pins in one of the plugs... just bend it... and it works great. i may be wrong. it's on here somewhere though. V8 clusters are simple, V9(06-07) require a little bit of electroneering.

well I reconnected the line cut to turn off the speaker and just ripped the speaker off the board. It seems now the ABS light and outside temp are working for me. Also the brake light is working properly. It does not show when I have the cruise control on but does show when it is set. The battery ran fine and got a good charge. One hint that I can say I noticed when I first had this connected with the wire cut was the windshield wipers were moving slower than normal very odd but that would indicate this issue before you had the trouble of a drained battery.
So other than having to resplice that wire and trimming the connectors on the STI cluster I'd say it works great with my 05 automatic.

Moved B28 to B16 located on the center connector to get the cruise working. This is what i had to do on my 05wrx with a 06sti cluster

as far as i know, to get the V8 cluster working all you need to do is snip one wire. the same goes for the 06/07 but you also need to trim the plastic plug because one of the ridges may be different.

just do a search. there was a really good write-up on scoobymods

I reccomend getting a 04-05 cluster i just did an 05 cluster install in my '02 you need to cut C9 (STi diagram C9) and cut b28 i think... also there is one wire which needs to be grounded to turn off the rear diff temp light. and you need to hook up a relay or open up the cluster and cut out the reverse circuit and solder in a jumper wire, in order to get the ABS to work correctly as the 02-03 have the opposite polarity for our ABS light. I'll get the diagram i wrote it all up on and give you specifics. Not terribly difficult but not the easiest thing either. about a 3 on a 10 point scale.

oh right and trim one of the plugs so it will plug in correctly.

That diagram would be great.

I swapped a Forester STi cluster (same as the V7) into my '04 Forester XT yesterday and have the e-brake light always illuminated and the ABS light on all the time. I haven't tried the cruise control yet.

This is very helpful. I have a 98RS with 02WRX swap (dash and everything) and have a 06STi cluster coming and am pretty confident about putting in it now. Does anyone have any suggestions about going through the process of putting it in?

Thanks,
Anthony

Cut the ABS wire i forget which one it is, hook the side coming from the cluster to one of the switched terminals on a normally closed relay, and the part going to the ABS unit up to one terminal on the coil side. Then hook other switched terminal to ground, and the other coil terminal to 12V. ABS light works correctly, should solve brake light problem too, possibly not.

I'll try to remember to grab the write up i did when im at work on monday. It's not terribly difficult.

now take the bottom of you steering column apart. unscrew it then pull it away from the colum.
next look for the plug that goes into the headlight switch

now flip the plug over. and you should see where it says 17 on one cornner and 9 on the other. this are the marking the wires in the plug. so start at 9 and move over to the number 11 an 12.

clip them and leave room for a wire connector to go on them. then connect 12 to b22 and 11 to b20
Would you believe I actually did this when swapping my cluster? I thought it did not work though, since I had the headlight switch turned off when testing it

It is not a perfect solution, but it works. I too prefer to control the cluster than the console.

Once I get my 6 speed and Spiider DCCD, I will work on a way to wire the DCCD into the cluster. I do not think it will be too hard.

I hear Spiider is working on that already. May just want to wait to buy the fully integrated version.

AHHHH!

I hate technology, your always like a few weeks too early!

Either way, I'm glad it's dual mode finally.

damn.

I know it's a small thing, but I do really wish it was fully integrated.

abootman-
I'll be trying to get this working with my cluster swap after i get my 6spd in, so keep me posted on your progress ill do the same.

It's a back burner project for me at the moment, ill make posts here as I progress. but if you plug the cluster in and it shows ANY reading other than "---°F" guess what!? you have a temperature sensor already! because the OBS has them i guess... orsomething like that. Either way, it's just a matter of getting it to work without the auto HVAC, i looked at the wiring diagram and one of the wires from the temp sensor is spliced and connects to the auto HVAC and the cluster. In the process of figuring all that out. I know older outbacks and foresters had outside temp readings and they did not have auto HVAC... so that might be interesting, it all matters if theres a difference in the cluster.

when I finish my STi drivetrain swap this will be one of my next projects... and given that i have access to many many subarus, tools, and service manuals one could ever need, I can't imagine it being to hard to figure it out.

I'll post here with any updates.

PS keep forgetting to grab those diagrams i made, try again tomorrow! i'm so out of it lately, sorry.

yea same here i have many projects going on all at once and the out temp read out isnt top priority. but its still on my list. after my car is back from the shop i will give it another shot with the auto hvac i picked up. if it works with that rigged in the car then i will try to make the parts needed to spoof a auto hvac system for the cluster to work properly
