Back in the Club: Theif’s 2020 Series White STi
It’s been quite some time since I was in a Subaru. Between then and now there have been quite a few amazing cars (Cayman R, RF Miata, Focus RS, Audi TTRS).
The most recently being the Cayman R. What a fantastic car that was. Easily my favorite. But as it happens in life, circumstances change. In the coming month/s my wife and I are having a baby girl and that meant some changes for a bit. What a great transition back to something fun and familiar. Having had a number of various STi swaps and a ‘15 awhile back, I really wanted to find something more than straight stock out the gates. Especially with the new model coming soon. It took a bit of searching but I finally found a Series White and it arrived this week. Couldn’t be happier. It feels like putting on your favorite pair of vintage jeans. My wife already misses the R quite a bit though, probably more than I do. Ha! Looking forward to having a small build/project again. Will keep this thread updated as it unfolds.

Been awhile since I've updated to say the least. Figured it would be a good time.
Some fun things happening: - Found an OEM JDM STI seat that I'm refinishing and converting to be plug and play within the car. As easy as it would be to just put any Recaro in, I really want to keep safety functions the same and keep the heated seat function. Hoping these will be done in the next few weeks. - Installed the S209 front draw stiffeners and front braces. Loving the little extra response and feel they provided. - Ordered and installed a custom set of Cygnus Performance X-1 Motorsport Coilovers. Specs: - caster/camber plates - long travel addition - concave internal upgrade - 8k/8k hyperco springs They have by far been the best suspension upgrade I've put on a Subaru to date. Similar compliant feel to how the cayman was. Refined is a good word for it. I may go to a slightly softer spring come summer time, but the current setup is more than adequate for performance comfort daily driving. -Purchased a set of Speedlines for my winter wheel setup. I may however just rock them all year long. I love how they look. 18x8 wrapped with 245/40/18 tires. Width of the wheel is narrower than stock but the rolling diameter and width overall matches stock spec. While this could be viewed as a downgrade, I'm not trying to set lap times or create an ultimate grip monster (I quite like a lil give). Time will tell if it is actually a con or not. - Ordered some Second Skin dampening panels and Luxury Liner Pro to combat a bit of the rattles. For now, that's all I have for updates. Enjoying the car a bunch and looking forward to all the little upgrades here and there. |
