ACT throw out bearing
Having read some of the almost ten year old posts I would like to pose the question are ACT throw out bearings still inferior to OEM? I ordered an ACT 6 puck and I'm wondering if I need to spend another $100 on an OEM throw out bearing. Please provide first hand experience with your ACT throw out bearing.

I've owned 3 ACT clutches and I've never had a throw out bearing issue. I think the bearing that is included in their kits is O.E.M. I could be wrong. The last clutch kit I changed was 5 years ago, so maybe they've switched throw out bearings by now to something inferior.
My experience is with both push type and pull type clutch throw out bearings. A 6 puck kit? Sprung or unsprung? I'm guessing unsprung. That's more like on on/off switch, rather than a gradual transition. |

The ACT TOB is not OEM and is subpar. The savings is not worth it, just buy the OEM one from Subaru.

I had a ACT TOB and it started rattling after 50 miles and was completely worn out around 5K miles when I pulled it. It had a ton of play and was toast. Considering how involved and time consuming it is to replace a 6MT TOB, it's not worth it to try and save a $100 or so. Which you will end up paying more to replace later.

I'm in the FB groups as well and it seems it's still an issue. Granted there have been some folks with no issues as you can see here. I definitely recommend an OEM TOB. I had one go out around the 10K mark. Started chattering on cold startup. It was getting worse and fortunately for me, it was time for the 6 speed swap.
