Sti ecu with wrx engine?
So i have an ecu from a 2001 jdm sti (V7) and im planning to buy a jdm ej205. Im wondering if they will work because the ej205's have tgvs while the 3j207 (the engine that the V7 sti ecu was designed for) does not. I know a missing or messed up tgv signal can stop the car from starting so im not to sure how the wiring will sync up between these 2 parts. If anyone can let me know or send a link to research id appreciate that.
BTW: Im swapping these into a 2004 usdm wrx chassis

It's my JDM 205 and 207 didn't have TGVs and I repurposed the wires for AVCS. When I use my USDM ECU once a year I don't have any problems. It's just tuned out. While you have everything apart might be worth it to just do a TGV delete.
If you want to use the TGVs then you have a couple choices. If you are using AVCS then you can add in the wires. The pins are there ready to be tapped. If you're not using AVCS then you can re-pin the AVCS wires to the TGV pins. Your tuner will end up downloading the proper EJ205 rom onto the ECU for that engine. So essentially they will be turning the ECU into a 205 ECU. My 207 is being run on a 205 ECU with the proper 207 ROM flashed onto it for instance. |

Ok as long as the pinout at the ecu and the chassis/engine harness is the same, I don't want to accidentally brick my ecu. Thanks

Yes it will work but you'll need to reflash the ecu and turn off your TGV codes

1 last question, so it's possible to have both tgv's and avcs active? I'm not going for a high power build and I like tgv's if I can use them with avcs that would be the best

Yes you can have both. TGVs are only used during cold start and eventually the motors will need replacing so Maoist people just delete them unless they live somewhere where they can't get around emissions check. If you don't have to worry about an emissions check then delete them so you don't have to worry about the motors failing

Also does anyone have pinouts for the avcs needed for this engine swap?
