Default E-Tune from Eric at Torqued Performance

Ok, so a few months ago I started a thread here about my severe issues getting my 2020 WRX Pro-Tuned.
https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=46434495#post46434495

The short version:
Went Stage 2+ and took the WRX to get Dyno Tuned at Boosted Creations in Palmyra, NY. Immediately, there was hesitation throughout the powerband, especially between 2400-3100rpm.
COBB got involved, and when both them and the shop couldn't fix it, Mike McGinnis took over as the head engineer at COBB. He had one answer...he told the tuner to make the map run rich between the 2400-3100rpm range as it was running lean in that area. This did nothing to fix hesitation and caused knock.
I was then told by COBB and the tuner that my car HAD to have a mechanical problem...it didn't according to a compression test, leak down test, smoke test.
I was forced to drive my WRX with this hesitation for the last few months and it SUCKED.
I finally decided to go the e-tune route and searched NASIOC for reviews. Eric at Torqued Performance had many great reviews and I decided to give him a try.
Yesterday (2/9) I sent him the $200 fee and he emailed me back with the base map in ten minutes. We managed to get 3 revision maps done before 7pm when he gets off work.
At 9am this morning, I had another revision waiting in my inbox. After I got off work, we went back at it and did 6 more revisions before Eric was satisfied that all looked well.
Every time he sent an new map, I immediately went to log. Within 15 minutes of getting my logs, Eric responded with a revised map. It made me feel like he was focused solely on me, which felt great as a customer.
I could tell the difference using just the first base map he sent. After the 8th and final revision, the car feels like a completely different animal. Theres is zero hesitation. The car pulls like a freight train. AFR and AF Learn #'s are PERFECT. There have been ZERO knocks during each log.
I should've went to Eric months ago. I was so satisfied with his work, I gave him a tip at the end. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to finally LOVE my WRX.
And it shouldn't be lost on anyone that Eric accomplished what all COBB engineers, including the famed Mike McGinnis, could not do in over a month. He did this in just a few hours over email.
This man and Torqued Performance will get all of my future tuning business when I decide on an FMIC and bigger turbo. I will also tell every WRX owner I meet looking for a tuner to look Eric up.
If any members are on the fence or looking for the best e-tuner, you cannot go wrong with Eric and Torqued Performance.
Give the man your money, you won't be sorry!!!

Thanks for the review. I'm planning on using Eric for my tuner on my EJ207 swapped wagon soon so this is great to hear.

Default E-Tune from Eric at Torqued Performance

I had Eric for my 02wrx

I have nothing but great things to say about him. Great experience, simple and sweet. And Numbers all looked great.

Very reasonably priced, Quality work and always right there to send a revision.

If I ever decide to tune my 2020 I just bought, I’ll definitely give him a holler again.
No plans to mod as of now, but if I did, he’s the man.

I'll echo what's been said here. I think it's pretty irrefutable Eric is the most experienced e-tuner, period. The caveat to the success of his tuning is your car's mechanical integrity. He is not exactly a conservative tuner, so if your car isn't ready to make its full potential you may have problems. Additionally, he tuned a friend's STi and the shop failed to tighten the inlet onto the turbo so for the first few revisions the car barely stayed running. I smoke tested it and fixed all the vacuum leaks and it runs like an absolute dream now. 100% recommend! He is also from CO so high altitude tuning is a specialty of his. I will only say his cold starts leave a little to be desired, but my car has ID2k's and E85. It's only going to be so good.

Just had Eric tune my 2016 WRX, very happy with the result, car has never ran so good, surprised it runs so good cold as i removed the TGVs as well as the EGR. Best 200$ i have spent on this car.

This may be a strange question, but would you guys recommend Eric over a tune from another NASIOC recommended shop that's in my local area (Delicious Tuning in Oceanside)? I may end up getting an initial ETune from him after I get my catback exhaust with a downpipe, but before I go crazy and continue with my build plan

Probably can't go wrong either way.

Because of this thread, I got e-tuned by Eric last year.

He was a lot like another I got before that; almost 100% business. He rarely answered a question I had during the process and likewise (seemingly) ignored my requests to run the car richer due to the AFR always being over 14.7. I told him it was an old car and I didn't want to run higher than about 18 psi for boost, but he turned it up to 21 anyways.
After about the 10th revision, I just stopped replying to him for a new map, as I didn't want to keep doing pulls and possibly break something. This is my daily driver, which I also made him aware of multiple times.

Good response time, but doesn't really listen to what you want, in my experience.
