Question AutoX advice

Okay, so i'm an AutoX noob and have a few questions about driving a WRX in STX....

My current set up plan is:
40mm DMS coils with 250lb all the way around
Noltec front caster/camber plates
Rear Cusco plates
17x7.5 wheels with azenis sports
i'm having a custom turbo back built, and going to get the accessPort
cobb lightweight rear sway

my alignment plan is:
-3 camber front
-2 camber rear
no toe
and as much caster as I can get

my questions: dose that look good? will i need a front sway to stop overstear? or will my coils/alignment be able to handle it? can i get -2 camber in the rear with the 40mm and cusco plates, or will I need camber bolts? any other advice?

Based on my experience with the DMS Golds you should be able to control the oversteer with front/rear damping mismatch and front/rear tire pressure adjustments.

sounds good to me, though I can't give advice on spring rates. Headers and up-pipe are also STX-legal, you may wanna think about those (sounds like money is not an issue here). Just make sure your not running more than stock boost. I think there is an STi part similair to an ALK that is STX-legal also, probably worth looking into. And don't forget the steering-rack bushings (not sure if its legal or not for stx). Definately get some links to go with the rear sway. Corner-weighting the DMS's will work wonders I would imagine. Not sure about the rear camber but you should be able to get close to -2 without bolts. And I almost forgot.....brakes!

Sounds like your on the right track. Have fun...STX is a very competitive class. Don't underestimate the mini's!

It all depends on how serious you are and how street worthy you want your car. The setup you're talking about will give you a good general-purpose car.

With the setup you describe, too much oversteer won't be a problem. However, a front swaybar would help transitional response. I can get down to -1.2 degrees rear camber with Cusco adjustable plates. For STX, you can run camber bolts OR adjustable rear Camber plates, but not both. Make sure the COBB reflash doesn't touch boost.

For an autox-specific setup, you'd want significantly higher spring rates and less rear camber.

-Steve

p.s. Oversteer is your friend on an autox course! It takes some pretty extreme settings to get a WRX to rotate too much for autox. Note - an optimally set up autox car will be a bit twitchy on the street.

I would add a little front toe out to help with higher overall grip in turns. Other than that I agree with MNbiker's comments.

...and a bit of toe out in back (1/8" to 1/4" total) will help the car rotate, without much affect on tire wear.

-Steve

p.s. Toe out is really easy to set on Imprezas. I've done it at events a number of times.

Would I really want all the toe? With all the caster that I will have with the noltec front caster plates?

I don't have the Noltec plates, but I do have some Whiteline bushings that provide an extra 1/2 degree of caster. I run zero toe in front.

I do run a bit of toe out in back (as mentioned above), which affects a different part of the car's handling characteristics.
