Yeah, it's annoying as hell. Originally, the reason I needed that was because my car got broken into and they took my buckles with my seats. Let me know if it works!

I wonder if the A/C disable for defrost mode works for the 12+ 2.0i Imprezas? Hmmm...

it should, as it's not a permanent disable, and it worked for a MY12 STi the other day I was driving.

Awesome. I don't mind if it's not originally from you, but I would prefer it, so that we can verify that we've tested it.

Awesome. I'll give it a try. The a/c unit is a real fuel hog, and although I like to send air to the windshield at times, I don't like the fact that it's dragging a/c into the equation.

I find that with a/c on it easily sucks 10% more fuel than when I drive without it. Such a pig!

The bolded part is the reason why I'm uncertain. Supposedly, in the interests of fielding less questions about the a/c, the Subaru engineers decided not to turn the a/c light on when in defrost mode.

In any case, it should (hopefully) be apparent whether or not the tip works when I try it next time it gets steamy in my car...

I actually don't notice a HELL of a lot of fuel consumption with AC. I notice having to put extra load and all, but maybe I am just unconsciously compensating with my foot. At the end of the day, people's input can change the mileage by a huge factor.

I'm pretty sure in my car, unless I have the fan speed/vent selector at AUTO climate control, the A/C light will come on. But either way, the fix is to cycle the light to come on and then off to manually turn off A/C. Good luck

Thanks for the contribution, please add a title to your post if you can by going to edit, advanced, and adding it there. (so it's easier to find for people scrolling). Should also make mention that NON SPORT-TECH trims of 2011 STis did NOT come with HID. I'm not sure what bulb's in there, because 99% of the guides out there say it should come with D2S HIDs. (I think this was a Canada only fail base model)

I've gone ahead and added it to the first post with credit.

*disclaimer* All information I know (unless otherwise stated) is gathered from owning my '11 STi Sport-Tech Canadian Model. Please take extreme caution, and use any information at your own risk.

Problem:
The car will chime, and complain if the driver or passenger seatbelt isn't clicked into the buckle. Whatever the reason (short trips, diagnosis), if you wish to have the chime disabled, and further more detection of the seatbelt AFTER diagnostic.

Solution:
- Get in the car, sit in driver's seat (make sure all doors are closed)
- Insert key into ignition and turn to ON (2 clicks)
- Within this time, insert, and eject seatbelt from buckle 20 times within 30 seconds (I've heard that outbacks, foresters, and other Subarus require 20 times as well)
- When the process is complete, there will be no visual/audible indication, take the key out of ignition

Notes:
- To Test: start car, wait for initial systems check beeping to stop, drive around without seatbelt clicked in, not only will the chime be gone, but the seatbelt reminder indicator should be off
- The system check will just double check that the buckles are there, beyond that, it will no longer recognize if the driver/passenger have their seatbelts clicked in.
- If your car loses power, or ECU is reset, you may have to re-do this operation to have the desired effect.

Tested Compatibility:
- MY07 STi
- MY10 STi
- MY11 STi w/ Sport-Tech package
- MY12 STi w/ Sport-Tech package
This only work for subaru, do not try on mitsu. lol.

MY13 2.0i on the a/c thingy. I don't know if the 12's are compatible (although the 13's are just 12's with extra goodies, so I guess it's fair to say it'll probably work with the 12's too... )

Found and confirmed by another user with the MY12 2.0i. Below is the quote from the relevant post in the thread:

Took me 3 tries & on the 3rd I had my door open while doing the procedure but I'm not sure that had any bearing on it. If you ever get your ECU reset or change your battery you'll have to do it again.
I presume the MY13 operates in the same manner (see rationale in my previous post re: a/c disable for defrost vent setting).
