uhh I dont think thats true. as intakes need to have a carb Eo # to be legal. heres what you need to do, Look at appedix G if its not on it then its not going to be legal.

Yes it is an Enduro format. Having people have scheduled start times works well for covid safety.

Register here. Not that many people are registered since this one wasn't posted on the call club Rallycross site like the previous 4 this year were. Same organizer- vahan

Anyone that wants to try reaching your car on dirt should go. The racing surface is a smooth dry lake bed. I run Street tires on it and it works great. The only issue is the road going in is a 3 mile dirt road with rocks. I drive my stock height 08 STI in and out without issue, but wouldn't take a lowered car.

Here is the registration link

My appointment is coming up. I'm going in with a cat back, silicon IC piping, and agrimspeed AOS. Wish me luck

They are not going to like the AOS...can not have any modification to the factory PCV system...

^this, AOS and catch cans are allowed without a CARB EO.

The silicone hoses are gonna be case by case(they could prob fail you if they want to be a dick about it, silicone has higher permeability than rubber hoses so technically it could make higher emissions). If you have an aftermarket silicone coupler they prob wont hold it against you but if you have a silicone turbo inlet that prob wont fly.

Just catching up to this thread again, so I thought I'd might post some information i recently received. This would only apply if you went from bone stock on a OEM factory tune to an Cobb AP3. (Or your tuner or you backed up the original factory tune in the first place*) I emailed them for clarification as to what exactly the AP backs up on its first marriage. The reply is posted below. This only may help some people and alleviate some concerns. But anyways I thought I'd pass this on.

"The Accessport does fully back up the Subaru ROM exactly as found at the time of install. When doing so it can even back up the data if the ROM is not fully stock such as the case if the car has previously been open source tuned without an Accessport. When uninstalling, the Accessport performs a file check on the backup to ensure integrity and then restores it if the file passes. This means that in some cases, an open source tune without any alerted CAL ID or ROM ID can be backed up and restored back to the car as the AP won't be able to detect it differing from stock. In other cases, the AP may detect the file is not indeed a stock ROM or that the file does not pass the integrity check and instead uses a known good file that is also scanned. This backup is a copy of the ROM provided by us directly from Subaru without any alteration. The AP always has the ability to restore the car to stock.

On the note of CARB approval. The Subaru Accessports are not currently and have never been CARB approved. This is something we are currently working towards.

Finally, on the note of inspections, there are some common issues. The first is cars originally being open source tuned and the Accessport restores this tune during the uninstall as discussed above. Second, some people flash the Stage0 map instead of uninstalling beliving that to be the same. However, Stage0 is a copy of the same engine calibrations as a stock file but in OTS map form with different ID's!"

I think that makes a lot of sense. I'm satisfied with the reply. I hope this helps someone else down the bumpy road!

THey will never get it carb approved or they will have to get rid of their ability to add maps that are not approved.

So I had my ref appointment today. It was for sound only sure to a modified exhaust.

2008 STI
I brought the car in with-
Iag AOS
Silicon IC pipes
Cobb OTS stage 1 tune
OBX cat back ( I thought it was quiet enough)

I passed all visual checks and the OBD2 check......

And came in at 97 to 99db
The limit is 95.

The guy was nice and gave me several tries.
I am installing my stock cat back and will re-test.

I should have done that from the start but I wanted to pass with the exhaust so I could show any future cops. Oh well.

You passed the obdii check even with a reflashed tune on the ecu?

Yes. My ticket is specifically for noise, but I saw the ref connect to my OBD2 and he said I passed everything except the actual decibel test.

You had a ticket, not a smog referral?

Correct. I received a ticket for my exhaust being too loud. It required proof of correction. That used to be through CHP, but now it is through the state ref.

Im going to bump this post back up to the top. Just went in for my smog today. My DMV paperwork form stated Star Certified only. So found the local guy with a coupon, need to save a buck. Anyways he hooks it up and it pops up on the screen- "this vehicle can only be certified by a referee". He checked it twice and both times it said that. I can only assume its do to my Cobb OTS stage 1 flash. I only have the airbox. And its been like that for a full year. So I unistalled the AP, and will drive around until my readiness codes are set. Then need to find a referee and retest. I will update when I get more info.

That sucks. At least you're mostly stock so no big deal to get it fixed.

Not a complaint here just checking my understanding:

So the COBB street fighter CAI has an EO sticker, but to SMOG (renew or sell) the car the whole kit must swap out for stock air box lest one risk engine damage (or poor smog/power etc) from stock tune not being calibrated for COBB intake. Right?

And if leaving COBBs intake and tune in place, despite the sticker, it would fail the test with the AP tune (and go to referee then, and annually afterward).

So is the sticker just for police inspections?

You're better off spending that money elsewhere where you gain performance or handling. The CAI will do nothing unless you make enough power for it to run out of air from using the stock airbox.

If you REALLY want to keep it. Smog places will check for EO number. If it has it then visual inspection passes. As far as the tune goes, as long as all parameters are met it will pass. I do not have the stock engine nor tune. If you reflashed a day before it will not pass. ECU needs time to re-learn as well as putting some mileage before the test. If you flashed it a while a go and have been driving around it should be fine. No its not just for the police. Also go get a real tune and get off that OTS crap. Either run it stock or get a real tune. You'll feel more power from a tune than throwing a intake will ever do (to an extent)

So i am going through this right now. I went to get my smog done a month ago. Had only the cobb airbox and there stage 1 OTS map. As soon as the tech plugged in to the OBD, it popped a message on his screen that I needed to get inspected by the Ref. I have since gone back to stock flash and have a "phone call" with the Ref in afew weeks. Then from there I can go in for the visual.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m just going to revert to stock to avoid issues. The other question is whether removing tgv butterflies (but leaving shafts/motors/sensors intact) will impact readiness indicators. Anyone know?
