Default Old forged wheels vs new(er)? Longevity of metal?

Would you buy a set of used forged wheels (in this case, volk) that are 15+ years old or the same model that is obviously more expensive at 5 years old. Is there any reason to be concerned with metal fatigue in older forged wheels? What are your thoughts?

Wheels are a consumable, like brake pads and accessory drive belts. If they're beat up and out of round, I wouldn't spend the money to repair them... Unless rare and/or specific dimensions.

If they're in good shape there is no reason to worry, they just might not be quite as strong as a newer design or casting.
