1st what will you be doing?
I use my drill every day...for drilling & puting in various screws (Panasonic 15.6volt 1/2" chuck $200)
I also have a 12v Panasonic that I have had scince '96 drill & charger great (had to buy new packs... nothing lasts for ever)
Dewalt does make some nice tools but they are heavy, but durable...
I have also seen some nice Mikita 12 & 14.4v
Milwaukee 14.4 are cheap & you get what you pay for...
On-line places have the best prices...
Be sure to get 3000 NiMH batteries they have the best characteristics for occasional use... (can be recharged any time, & only need a occasional discharge) very diffrent than NiCD cells.

I have a Dewalt 12v and Love it. I do some sidejobs as an electrician and it holds up very Well! 2yrs now and still going strong.

I also have a Makita 90 deg drill that I use when working on Interior of cars. 2yrs on that one too.
