Those guys on the Truman have had one hell of a deployment. I would not want to be anyone on that staff.

Neither. But the important takeaway is we are seeing the combat effectiveness of China's exported tech. This is a first, and could be a ****ting our pants moment, or a nothingburger. Completely depends on wether the IAF is an air show force, or was ready for this fight.

Was it even a real world test? Yeah, I have no idea what I'm talking about, I get that but what I read is the "biggest dogfight" since WWII featured a **** ton of airplanes that never crossed their own borders.

Just seems like there's some **** happening on that ship.

Did you forget your place in the world? You aren’t owed a breakdown of every detail that happens, every bullet fired, condition of every piece of kit they take into training or battle. Turn the jets from high to simmer Karen and stop trying to back seat drive from 5000 miles away days or weeks after something happens. Let the people that are there in the role, do their jobs.

So dogfights are standoffs at max range possible and pulling the trigger when the computer says to. The dead guy never sees it coming. Winning that fight is all about better sensors, computing, and weapons.

Que?

That was a wire part.

If the wire fails, we eject. It takes too much energy away from the jet and we can’t fly away from it.

Happened to an E-2C a couple years ago but they were able to fly away, barely. But they also can’t eject so they have no choice.

And in good news, looks like we captured an intact seeker head of an PL-xx (fifteen). Stupid app and making numbers emojis.

It’s all over open source. Got you Chinese ****ers

That's what I figured. I've seen the E2C video, it's a fantastic bit of airmanship.

On 7 May 2025, wreckage of a Pakistani PL-15E was recovered in a field near the Indian city of Hoshiarpur, Punjab state

Didn't take long to get into it. Like, no anti-tamper at all.

The problem is they churn their tech faster because they don't even try to protect it. So while we are stovepiping defenses vs today's tech, tomorrow we are facing something way more advanced that we have nothing for.

This was exported tech too, so we have probably already bought a few ourselves.

India

India will be a more critical ally in that region as they are the 2nd largest economy there and share a border with the #1.

The strategic convienence is that they skirmish with China and could take advantage of a Taiwan conflict. We can certainly count on their cynicism if they at least have the capabilities, which they probably don't. India getting their **** pushed in by Chinese exports is very bad. We can probably count on Pakistani aggression toward India when the Taiwan conflict heats up.

Looks like despite the shoot down that the PAF scored, they got thoroughly spanked in most every other category. Fighter jets are really becoming dinosaurs.

Sure it does, but not sure what relevance you are discerning. Indias layered defenses and layered offenses proved exceedingly effective despite the deficiency in air to air. Every base in Pakistan seems to have gotten hit with significant casualties.

As far as how the Rafale got shot down, there are many factors beyond training that could have condemned that pilot. But sure it could have been a mistake. But if it was training, there would probably be more casualties. They took a hit and likely pulled their jets farther back. Good training likely prevented more casualties.

I was surprised how many Israeli weapons the Indians use.

I see the stock price of Dassault dropped something like 10% after a Chinese fighter shot down a Dassault.
Sales promises are one thing, actual combat is another.

So war is waged as an enterprise. If the Rafale is leading the charge that is usually speaks a good thing for them technically. But its also probably the highest risk position in the field.

Then there is the unknown capability on the other side. You have to learn fast and adapt, which they did seem to do. Pakistan keeping their F16s on the ground probably speaks more ill, but they might also be dated versions.

I'm not going to put a pilot in the cockpit of a flying coffin and send him to the front, unless I'm Russian.

Interesting story about a fight back from traumatic injury and the subsequent issues one former Super Hornet pilot suffered.

He's a good story teller. It's worth a watch.

Anyone figure out what an F-55 is yet? Or a super 22?

Wondering if these are actual things or just moronic ramblings...
