If you want to read a great book about the Bronco in Vietnam, check out Da Nang Diary by Tom Yarborough. SOG/MACV stuff, it was really interesting.

Skyraiders doing Sandy missions, Broncos and Bird Dogs will always have a special place in my heart for their actions to save lives in Vietnam. The stories that came out of the pilots who flew those three airframes are absolutely incredible.

Because they'd be in the federal slammer if they did...

EDIT: I've not stood so close to a turbo-prop before. That sucker was much louder than an F-86. One of the ground crew told us the pilot "took it easy" so to speak to keep the noise down! Obviously the video doesn't do it justice; wish I had a dB meter that day.

One of my good friends got to fly one of the NSW OV-10s in Iraq back in 2014-15 timeframe.

The deployment was super successful but afterwards they still want with a different light attack plane.

The USAF denies all knowledge of a light attack plane.

Just came back from vacation. Visited the Canadian Air Defense museum in Bagotville. I went full tourist in a CF-18 cockpit that was outside the building and snapped some pics. It looks like it sits outside full time, for visitors obviously, and it's a bit banged up. It was still a good way to see how it feels sitting in one of these beauties.

Looks like an old A model with the analog fuel panel and countermeasures.

Neat.

One of the those moment you, I, remember most things surrounding it. First trip and only to Disney. Staying a Ramada Inn. Being sure I'd never stay at a Ramada Inn and Florida as a whole if possible watching the debut of the B2 on the news. Amazing engineering. In the B2.

I occasionally catch an ep on MyTV or something like that.

It's a TV dramatization of Pappy Boyington and his "Black Sheep" in the Pacific theater.

Lots of footage of real F4U Corsairs and real combat camera footage thrown in.

Has a kind of McHale's Navy or MASH feel to it as well.

Yeah, Luftwaffe also conducts basic flight training out here in the Phoenix area in conjunction with Lufthansa's flight school. One of their students had a pretty impressive dead stick into the airport not too long ago.

They put on a pretty bitching Octoberfest every year using their hangar as the beer hall.

Sitting at an intersection on my way to work earlier, suddenly the sun is blocked out...

A C130 rumbles about 200ft over my head on its way to Ft. Jackson, I was a 6 year old boy again for a split second

F-35 crash at Eielson Alaska. Total loss.
Pilot got out ok.
According to a few comments it happened during an attempted landing after a declared IFE. The plane was rolling and the pilot ejected while partially inverted.
There's video on Reddit of the plane tumbling to the ground with gear down.
