Question OT military/ fighter jet experts, what was this sound I heard a jet make?

So I saw a few military jets landing a half mile from me this morning, and as one was about to turn for final aproach, it was coming towards me and I heard this really odd sound, and i immediately knew where I have heard it before, the command and conquer soundtrack.

I heard the sound twice in a row, then i heard ti again later twice ina row. What the hell is it? it was kind fo freaky seeing jets flying towards you and hearing these sounds.

obviously that sound clip has "the sound" repeating and echoing, but you get the idea

Did the planes also have a funky beat playing when they flew over?

yeah, usually pilots ripping their own ears off results in a crash.

Say what? Only sounds it'd be making would be - engine, landing gear and perhaps air brakes...

And the landing gear and air brakes would be too quiet and drowned out by the roar of the engine... Sure you're not on something?

On fighter jets the exhaust nozzles open and close depending on throttle position. That sound is prbably the nozzle opening and closing as the pilot adjusts throttle input for approach if it is a fighter aircraft. I cant open the sound file, so if it sounds kind of like a robotic whining sound thats what it is.

FYI, no military aircraft uses air brakes...its all hydraulics

Air brakes as in "air brakes", not "air" brakes as in pneumatic powered, sheesh, Capt. Obvious.

That's got to be one hell of a loud stall alarm to hear it a half mile away.

I'm going to go with: It was probably caused by the LSD you took earlier in the day.
