I've been a bit out of the loop for a few years on guns/ammo. Anyone have recommendations on where I can see what the going rates for different calibers of ammo are? I might get rid of some of my extra since I rarely go shooting anymore.

Ordered a Monster Vault (Original) a couple weeks ago and got it installed today. Had to raise the bed to get it under there and gonna lower it just enough to be able to open the drawer but keep it "stuck" in place. Overall, great product and heavy as hell. Only complaint, a lit keypad would be nice.

Bonus lever action (Model 94AE in .444)...

Screw it, I had a lead on a couple of vp9's at decent prices....butttt after taking the m&p I bought few weeks ago to the range, and having a ton of fun running like 500 rounds through it, I decided to take that money and I'm going to do a pistol build. I just ordered a stripped lower and parts kit from psa, and now I'm trying to decide if I should go with something like an 11.5" BCM or maybe something in a shorter variety. This will just be a plinking gun, so I'm not too concerned with range, I'll also most likely go with a a 1-6x24 optic on my rifle, so I'll throw the red dot I currently have on this pistol.

Edit: I will most likely just be ordering a built upper, after seeing how finicky getting pistol gas systems to run properly, I don't wanna deal with that, I've built a lower before and it's pretty easy, just ended up selling it before I ever finished it back during the obama-gun craze in like 2012, but I don't think I have the skillset yet to start messing around building uppers just yet.

If you like fireballs, 7.5" 5.56 is what you seek. Unless you want massive fireballs. Then same barrel length but 7.62x39. But then again, .308 out of an 11.5" barrel is a sight to behold...

So many choices...

The fact that any of these things are real is proof that we truly live in interesting times.

Id love to see chronograph data on .308 out of an 11.5 barrel.

You just put some bad ideas in my head lol.

I was looking up .308 pistol builds as well and saw that Springfield has a .308 Saint Victor in pistol form. This gives me a funny feeling in my pants. Buds has them for $1700. I'm just trying to decide if the arguing with my wife is worth it after the amount of money I've spent on ammo in the last month.

At that short of a barrel, it's pointless IMO. 10.5" is the best compromise for 5.56 ballistics, and still can shoot accurately out several hundred meters if you happen to shoulder a brace.

That's the whole point of the gun! Because Fireballs!

And arguably a 11.5" .308 is still pretty damn accurate. Add a can to get back some velocity and it'll do work out to 400 yards.

Any recommendations for a laser engraver that can get down to .003 in aluminum? This would be for marking AR lowers.

Do it. I have one as my EDC. Everyone that I've let shoot it, loves it.

On Monday, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) released its proposed rule on pistol braces.

It starts by saying that any brace that the manufacturer intends to be fired from the shoulder will be considered a short-barreled rifle (SBR) and subjected to the National Firearms Act (NFA). The document further creates a points system that would allow the ATF to make most pistol braces SBR.

The maximum length of a pistol would be 26 inches. That would make any AR15 style pistol with a barrel over seven inches an SBR regardless of any other determination features. The measurements of a seven-inch AR pistol from the rear of the buffer tube to the front of the gun are 25 inches.

"Given the public interest surrounding these issues, ATF is proposing to amend the definition of ***8216;rifle' in 27 CFR 478.11 and 479.11, respectively, by adding a sentence at the end of each definition. The new sentence would clarify that the term ***8216;rifle' includes any weapon with a rifled barrel and equipped with an attached ***8216;stabilizing brace' that has objective design features and characteristics that indicate that the firearm is designed to be fired from the shoulder, as indicated on ATF Worksheet 4999."

1 point: Minor Indicator (the weapon could be fired from the shoulder)
2 points: Moderate Indicator (the weapon may be designed and intended to be fired from the shoulder)
3 points: Strong Indicator (the weapon is likely designed and intended to be fired from the shoulder)
4 points: Decisive Indicator (the weapon is designed and intended to be fired from the shoulder
The ATF would consider any gun with a score of four or more points an SBR. Firearms over 13 inches would automatically be an SBR. If a pistol has a standard buffer tube, then the firearm would be assigned two points. The ATF would consider any gun that is over 120 ounces unloaded an SBR.

More confusingly, if a firearm has flip-up sights, then the ATF would give that gun one point towards becoming an SBR. The ATF would assign a gun with a red dot two points. The ATF doesn't see why a shooter would use a red dot pistol on a pistol.

The ATF would assign any gun with a hand stop two points. That would put any firearm with a hand stop halfway to becoming an SBR. The ATF would consider any gun with a secondary grip as an SBR.

The ATF encourages all companies to resubmit their sample firearms to the ATF's Tech Branch to be reexamined. It would cost the companies thousands of dollars for almost no chance of getting another determination letter stating that they can sell their gun as a pistol.

Even if a manufacturer's product scores under four points, the ATF could determine that the company is trying to circumvent the NFA. The ATF could choose to charge the company with a crime. This power could discourage companies from selling braced pistols even if the ATF rules it is a pistol.

The ATF gives gun owners several choices.
The first choice is turning the guns into the ATF. The ATF says this choice would be at "no-cost" to gun owners. This move is gun confiscation. The second choice would be to install a barrel that more than 16 inches long. The third choice is to pay a $200 tax stamp and register it as an SBR. The final option would be to modify the brace and not sell it to anyone in the future.

The document gives some alternatives. These alternatives include making the rules just guidance. That chance would mean that they would not have the force of law. Other alternatives include grandfathering all firearms with braces or forgiveness of the tax stamp fee.

The comment period will open soon for pistol braces.

Yes, but like Bitcoin the virtual ones are the best investment. PM Olmek for the details.

I bought my Weatherby sa08 last week. This was my first experience with rifles, my first experience with a gun was with a Glock. I really love this gun; I have always used it in video games. I watched a lot of videos about rifles, pistols, and bullets before I bought it. I read good information about the main parts of the shot and pistol and the compression of the cartridges at https://bulkmunitions.com/is-a-bullp...he-investment/. I think it's important to know all these basics before you start using a gun. I am now planning on buying a Remington 700 for hunting with friends, and I highly recommend the bullpup rifle. It is awesome!

Mostly finished a 300blk "other" build. Shoots nice, just need an optic and for more ammo to sow up.

Is ammo still silly? I couldn't resist and sold off some 5.56 earlier this year but I haven't checked prices any time recently.
