I agree; tax credits and rebates do help.
But, consider that, in May/June of 2020, Model 3 posted sales figures as high or higher as stalwarts like Camry/Civic/Corolla in California.
Tesla and Model 3 no longer qualify for the federal tax credit and most California rebates only apply to low/moderate income levels.
In the end, most people are buying Model 3 with $1500 of upfront Cali gov incentives (California Clean Fuel Reward); that's not much.
My point is, in Cali, EVs are part of the picture regardless of direct-to-consumer gov incentives/rebates/credits.
This is no longer a fade; it's real and it's only getting bigger.
Note that I don't own a EV, I don't mind burning fossil fuels , but I recognize that more and more people are buying EVs in Cali. The train has left the station.

Yeah, considering you can lease white BMW for next to nothing, people are still going with the Tesla. Money rebates or incentives could go away tomorrow, and Tesla won't lose a single customer...in California.

And Tesla's prices recently have been increasing too. I doubt it'll hurt their sales any.

That Roadster needs to get here!

For busters.

I debadged my EV of all EV and Zero Emissions logos. Now if I could get something done about the ghey headlights it’d look like a regular hatch on the road. Coilovers are next!

not fooling anyone by debadging a leaf...

I'm waiting for an affordable non-derpy looking awd EV. Something that looks remotely like a normal ICE, both inside and out, but isn't a retrofitted EV. Audi has done it with their etron cuv, but still more than I want to spend on a vehicle. I sort of feel like subaru is going to go all derpy as well considering it's a shared design with Toyota.

Too much; I paid $4.39 for Chevron 91 yesterday in Watsonville.
But, it wasn't the best spot to get gas; I could have found a gas station closer to $4 had I driven a few more miles north.

Would that not have an affect on EV sales in Cali then? Not wanting to pay such high prices? That is, until there is sooooooo many EVs on Cali roads that they start taxing EVs in some way to compensate for the lost gas revenue(aren't they already doing something to that end?).

Yeah, for sure, it's definitely part of it. We can certainly count on Cali's gov to capitalize on the rising popularity of EVs at some point.

EVs are already being charged annual fees (taxes) in many states incl CA. But agree, that once EVs are really popular, and the new carbon taxes diminish with less ICE driving, they will also start taxing KwH usage, incl your home and business.

Biggest concern will actually be having enough KwH grid capacity even available to meet all the new EV demand. But those are just challenges and annoyances. Brown-outs will be a normal way of life. And won't stop the rush to EVs by 2030 (50% of sales). Saving the planet is more important, aka Green New Deal..., only have 10 years left now...

Better start building those nuclear power plants now, they take years to build. My uranium stocks UEC and UUUU are up 120% and 320% and probably just getting started. I’ll use the profits someday to buy a 6mT V8 Mustang or M2C.
