2015+ WRX Premium Leather Retrofit into 2016 Base
Hi all,
Picked up a set of premium leather seats, they bolt up just fine. There are a few issues: - Passenger front has an extra white plug, I think this may be for heated seats? - Driver front has two extra plugs, the same white one and another, this is most likely to energize the power seat since my base seat is all manual. Looked up the parts catalog, I found two harnesses that MAY be an easy solution to both my issues, has anyone done this swap that can confirm? Driver Seat Harness: https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_20...4126FJ030.html Passenger Seat Harness: https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_20...4126FJ000.html Or can someone with a premium model take a pic of all their wires under their seat? Maybe that will help.

Update, the above harnesses will not work. I've come to the conclusion the car harness for the base WRX and premium WRX are different and you cannot use a factory harness to connect powered seats to a non-powered base WRX. I ran a power wire from the fuse box down to the seat and ran a ground to a convenient unused bolt under the seat.
For the same reason, you cannot use the seat heaters in a plug and play fashion. You can wire your own power and have it work though. Power seat works just fine now. However, I need help with the SRS light that came on. The yellow airbag lights are both plugged in and they fit perfect, but still getting an SRS airbag warning on the dash. Has anyone found a solution or know how to diagnose? Last edited by nerdydorkus; 04-04-2021 at 05:01 PM. |

I have been doing a lot of research on aftermarket seats and the airbag light issue over the past few days (just got a 2020 wrx and looking for more legroom/headroom)
Your problem is a little different, but the fix for seats with NO airbag is to add a resistor. It seems like what most people use is 3.3 ohms on the middle two pins of the plug. I guess you could test the resistance of the middle two pins of both seats? Theoretically your original seat that doesn't throw the light would be somewhere around 3.3 ohms, and if the new seat is significantly different that would at least explain it. Doesn't make sense though since both seats are 2015+ |

What about the Legacy or WRX or 17+ Impreza Power Heatd Seat for 2016 Premium Impreza
Thank you for answering this question I have had, now I know the brackets will fit. I want to use a Legacy or WRX seat because the 2016 Impreza didn’t even have an option for a power seat. Just wanna check for sure the brackets are still the same for the 12-16 Chassis so I can use a 12-16 Legacy Seat for a 2016 Impreza? Also FINALLY with the redesign of the 2017 Impreza (Of course ) they added the power seat option. Could I use the 2017 power seat for the 2016 if I found someone to wire it? Would the harness for the heater be plug n play as long as the seat I’m taking out was a heated seat?

I did a similar swap from cloth to leather in my car. Same deal with the power seats. What fuse did you tap into? Luckily my airbags had no issues, but my seats were from same model and one year difference.

I tapped into the ACC fuse, any fuse will work I wanted one that would only get energized when the car is on to avoid any possible parasitic drain.
