"Found" the leaked timeline. CY2023 for new Impreza and Crosstrek, so no new Impreza until MY2024. Yikes.

Most releases have been pushed back 6 months, although the debut of the Outback Wilderness Edition seems to have been on schedule.

BRZ was announced very early, Outback was on time, Forester face-lift and Forester WE are due next.

BRZ was supposed to be released by now, but isn't coming until Fall. So it was announced on time, just released later than anticipated.

BRZ was announced in November 2020, but start of production was listed as Spring 2021. Spring started at the end of March, and then it takes the ROROs time to get here. So, end of Summer/early Fall seems like a normal timeline.

That's a weird time to release a RWD sports car, but okay.

I have the timeline photo, from last August...was there an older one? BRZ SOP is Spring 2021.

It's funny how Honda posts a teaser of the next gen Civic, then almost immediately has a bunch of near production spec cars out for view and now they're supposedly going on sale very very soon.

Subaru runs at the speed of molasses in winter.

Are they slow, or extremely good at hiding? I feel like over the past two decades we almost never get spy shots in Japan. At least not like how some companies are photographed often. They must have some super secret proving ground.

Maybe they just don't test as much as everyone else prior to release? That would actually explain some things.

Maybe. But then again, they tend to develop things in-house vs. buying (examples Lineartronic, Eyesight), so they must have somewhere to test that we can't see.

Honda/Acura have recognized major disappointment from auto show attendees that you can't tease a "concept" car and release a production car that is totally different looking. It's a major fail.

Subaru.... well, not much to say because it's exactly the opposite.

But they're small!

Subaru is an extremely conservative company, to a fault. But they don't care what you or I think. They keep growing their business making toasters and it's working for them. In their defense, Honda is a massive company comparatively.

Subaru is planned obsolescence.

Scion 2.0 coming to a Toyota dealer near you.

It's true. They make cars primarily for people who are scared of driving. Clearly there's money to be made on that segment. At least for now.

Sadly, that what the majority of buyers go for. They gotta build what sells the most, not what the forums bark for from the sidelines. Forum-pleasing isnt sales.

I think you are being a bit too hard on SOA. They are in business to make money. So be it. However, SOA needs to realize that it will be an uphill battle with forums like this. They current offerings pale in comparison to the past offerings that build a site like this.

It is what it is. I have stopped complaining and have move on.

Have a great weekend.

Peace,

Greg

The more appliances they sell, the more $ they can allocate to WRX/STI/BRZ. I know we wall want enthusiast cars, but they need to appease the masses too.

Gotta get their bread and butter on before they can make cake....but how long we gotta wait for it? Seems like bread and butter is pretty well covered with the new wilderness (cringe) the Ascent, and the Solterra

Subaru doesn't care about our ramblings. Dust in the wind. It's fun to have discussions, but I really hope nobody thinks that complaining on this site is going to make any difference at all.

Either like their offerings and buy them, or don't, and move to a different manufacturer.
