Yeah I'm really hesitant to buy back in until I see a nice big dip. Eth back to sub 2k, btc below 50, etc. Everything is just swinging 20-40% too damn fast.

Yeah I'm with you on this one. I don't want to just FOMO back in. I thought about it at like $2700/$2800 but I didn't and regret it a bit. But now for sure not as I see at least a little dip in the near future. Then again rockets are primed so I could see this going for a good bit longer.

Again, oh well.

As an aside, I decided a few days ago to get a little Safemoon . So far its up like 20% so I got that going for me...but that was just a few hundred bucks.

I'm still keeping a long term view of multi year / even decade.

I haven't heard anything that changes that view for me.

Meaning I am not going price target - sell. I'm going - yep BTC and ETH are still viable, increasing adoption, they are only going to more valuable a few years out.

If anything I might pick up more on the dips that happen.

I'm currently mining ETH on two rigs so I have been happy to see the price increases

Go DOGE go!

Just need the current price to double, then double 9 more times, and I can retire.

jesus that increase on doge coin.

Go ETH. I think I'm going to sell. I'm at 4x what I bought it for and I'd like to get my gains, let it settle down and then reinvest.

I know nothing of stocks/crypto. What's keeping like ... thousands of people from buying Doge this week so the price rockets then they sell it to make profit? Nothing? Is that what happened on the real market with Game Stop? It seems like ... why don't we all just buy a crypto then have an agreed on date to sell it to get rich ... sounds too easy. Also sounds like "insider trading" or whatever it is, or sounds like something white collar a-holes do who these same crypto-buyers usually trash talk.

Anyway, if I do get into it I'd rather use Coinbase. But like I said, I have a wife and if I don't do Robinhood she'll ... well you married men know what she'll do.

Simplified version: yes. See reddit WSB.

If rich companies/people do it - that's just fine. But if the common riff raff like WSB start doing it, well we better have a congressional hearing on it, and maybe make some laws. Can't let the poors cheat the system like the rich do.

Part of the issue is the volume. That sounds nice but over $25B worth of DOGE has been traded in the last 24h. Good luck having enough funds to whale the price around .

Also remember, when you do this, you are doing it knowing perfectly well that the last people in this chain get ****ed over.

That's why it raises legal questions. There is no general rise that everyone gets to take advantage of - it is absolutely guaranteed the last people in and the last people out lose all of their money.

So I've finally decided to dabble in the crypto game and resurrected my old Coinbase account, but I am running into walls trying to set up my 2 step verification to secure my account, tried using the 7 digit confirmation code sent by SMS to my phone but Coinbase would not accept or process that code. Then under advisement to use a more secure software authenticator, I am trying to do that logged in on my laptop

https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbas...-authenticator

But I am running into walls with this as well

Every time I click on Authenticator and "Select' I get nothing.

Any advice on how to proceed forward?

Try a different browser. Your adblocker or other pop-up blocking setting in the browser could be stopping the button from popping up another window with the authenticator.

Yeah if its chrome you will see an icon on the far right side of the URL bar showing blocked popups (which you can click and allow)

Well, looks like I ****ed up and sold that Doge too soon. It still helped reduce my debt significantly, so I'll call it a win.

Guessing DOGE will rise into Saturday and then dump once Elon takes the SNL stage.

Yeah, I sold too early, too. I mean, making a 1000% return was nice. But.

BUT.

On the subject of time period - crypto for us is a multi year, even decade long hold.

I started with a 75:25 BTC ETH mix, and it's now moved to a 65:35 mix. Mostly because ETH has outperformed BTC.

ALTs are interesting and have had a crazy ride the past month.

Also another view point on buying COIN

https://seekingalpha.com/article/441...uying-coinbase
The 65:35 mix is now 45:45:7:3 with BTC:ETH:BCH:XLM + XRP

gah needed more altcoins in the mix..

Ok, ethereum CLASSIC is now the #1 traded crypto over the past few hours. The market has gotten insane. Expect a big pullback in the next few days market wide. BTC may be excluded from that pullback.

I'm tempted to liquidate, sit on the cash and wait for the dip.

So this kind of depends on if you are a 'buy and hold' type person or an easy profit type person. I personally am a little bit of both. I'm leaving my DCA crypto in for years so no sense leaving potential gains on the table, even if a drop is likey coming. For my profit taking account I sold nearly everything days ago. Clearly too early (in hindsight) but I was satisfied with the account's growth and wanted to preserve it. I would put this money back in with a big enough dip. Also I could be completely wrong and there is still a month or two of shenanigans like this left.

If you have held for over a year - liquidate if you fear a dip.

If under a year - don't.

This advice ONLY applies if you are in the over 20% tax bracket.

If not then sell if you fear a dip, to buy back in the dip.
