75 from sasibaw or however you spell it to auburn hills is rough. Then it gets smooth. It's those pressure speed bumps that destroyed my car I drive right now.

This seems like the best place to post. I live in Toledo, OH, but am about to accept a job offer in Farmington Hills, MI; I'll be starting at the new job in later January. I am planning to move up there, but don't know the area at all; can I get some help/guidance? I am looking for apartments, 1BR, primarily in the Farmington Hills, Novi, and Wixom areas so far. I like the idea of a short drive to work, as that's what I'm used to. I am looking at the lower spectrum of a rent budget, but don't want to be surrounded by trashy people, although some of that is based on luck. Help? I'm sure I left out some pertinent info and/or didn't explain things well enough, so feel free to ask questions.

Worked in F.H for 5 years so I know the area pretty well. If you are looking for low rent, independence greens. Not very well rated but I have known 2 different people that have lived there and they seem to have liked it okay.

Novi, Walled Lake, Wixom, Commerce, bloomfield hills, west bloomfield you really can't go wrong with. Even some places in Southfield are pretty nice depending on the area in Southfield. Example, northwestern and 14 mile is considered Southfield but is also almost bloomfield hills. If you are looking to be in an area with more night life I would recommend close to Novi, or as far as Royal Oak/Ferndale area (13-14 mile commute).

Feel free to P.M me with any other questions.

Independence Green is basically right across the street from where I'll be working, but I also found a couple of relatively inexpensive places in Wixom. Any idea how busy 96 gets compared to 275 during rush hour? I left my interview around 5:45 and 275 South was hell until about 94 or so.

Depends which way you are headed and where. Novi tends to be a cluster @ rush hour in general. 96/696/m5/275 all meet in Novi...stay away =). Wixom ---> Farmington on 96 will be a headache in the morning and on the way home if you are working normal 9-5 hours.

The best way to get into Farmington from Wixom is to take back roads. 12 mile works pretty well depending where you are headed.

Oh by novi it's horrible for stick shift owners. Can't even let the clutch out completely it goes that slow.

See I work in Auburn Hills and moved to oxford...m24 is horrible in Auburn Hills but 12 miles of back roads make it quicker and easier

You should come to one of the RO/Midtown morning meets, a defense contractor with a White STI hatch and big bright red wheels usually comes out to those.

Also Can contest to i75 destroying cars. I put 45,000 on my poor 2011 DGM WRX driving from Wyandotte to the VEC in Warren then for few months from Wyandotte to Auburn hills, my hood and windshield is sooo pitted with chips and dings and ****. But now I live in Pontiac and my Car barley has time to warm up on my way to work.

Dark Grey Metallic Sedan. I'm not at the VEC anymore, are you talking about the one that parks off the 12 mile entrance, usually parked by some Beamers out by the road?

I worked as an integrated supplier in the side closures group but I work out of my companies headquarters now, one of my co workers has a blue 2011 wrx, he parks in the foreign lot directly straight south from the 12 mile parking garage.
