Just to clear that up, Kentucky, not BT, is where 95% of all the worlds bourbon is made...

Was it unclear?

Inside Edition should investigate the investigation.

Tried some dickle 11yr bottled in bond. Good stuff, great flavors. Bit hot on the alcohol burn but that goes away after the first glass

I just found a liquor store in So Cal that has Elijah Craig Barrel Proof A118, B520 and C920 in stock. $100 a bottle though, which is actually a fairly decent price for ECBP in So Cal. Was thinking about buying all 3, but wound up just buying the B520.

Pay sufficient moneys and you can! I’ve had an offer of 3x retail and $300 shipped; I’m not wasting my time with those I’ll let it sit.

$300 shipped sounds like a great deal - last I checked it was $400 in store.

It's a shame that Bourbon has gone the way of many brands like Rolex, Porsche, and many other examples.

You used to be able to get Weller 12, 107, heck there were cases of Special Reserve just sitting at my local liquor store (this is all years ago, I haven't had a bottle of these for a few years now).

But now even Buffalo Trace... my local liquor store limits one per person. I saw this happen a few months ago. It was often sold out. It was a good bourbon at $22, and between that 1792, some Old Forester 100proof, I'd rotate around these and I enjoy them.

Now the price has gone up to $34... kind of ridiculous to see that big of a price hike. Easy decision for me, 4Roses Small Batch is a better bourbon at the $30 mark for me. Not that Buffalo Trace cares about my business when people are paying hundreds and thousands of dollars for their allocated stuff, but I'm no longer going to go out of my way for anything BT. I just don't feel like it's worth the energy for the hype.

Also, sad that Eagle Rare is indeed rare around here... I used to find it easily for $30 without driving further than 5min. Now I'd have to 'hunt' for it.

while i'm not a bourbon connoisseur... i've gone through a couple of bottles of regular evan williams this year. someone else in this thread recommended the white label EW but my local Kroger doesn't stock it. they did have 1792 on hand so i picked that up.

to be honest, it's a little sweet for my tastes. anyone have any other recs? i'm probably going to have to hit an actual liquor store that has better stock...

the kroger also had bulleit bourbon, the normal and rye. but it's not one that i'm familiar on. any opinions?

I enjoy Bulleit for the price. I was sad to find out that their rye is another MGP rebottling. Not to say it's not good, but just another deception IMO.

Have you tried Kinnickinnic from Great Lakes? I like it, available at most grocery stores around here.

Try it by adding water, not too much. Then slowly stop adding as much water over time. Also, start with something lower proof, not 100+. It will grow on you as will your balls

There was some good Bourbon show on youtube/netflix/hulu. Some older guy at Buffalo Trace had a great way for novices to begin drinking whiskey neat and I'm pretty sure he recommended something like what I said above.

Edit: the show is on HULU, Neat: The Story of Bourbon - https://www.hulu.com/movie/neat-the-...e-bb8cf28b2b09 pretty sure the guy I speak of is on the later half of the show. Had some great tips for tasting as a novice for the folks who did distillery tours.
