I too am still 2.0 and would like to know what the absolute limit is in terms of getting the maximum power out of my current setup. Currently my tuner tells me that I am being limited by my injectors, but I am curious as to what else I could do besides the injectors for even more power. I'm thinking maybe E85 would be my last option?

The 205 is worse in pretty much every way with a lower redline, smaller ports and no AVCS in the US so slower spool as a result. The 207 will make more power than a 205. If I were you, and I am in a very similar situation as you (EJ205, VF39, about to go flex fuel to make ~350WHP), I would get some 1050x injectors or whatever your tuner suggests, and go E85 along with installing a quick spooling turbo if you haven't already and enjoy it (16GXT/XTR, VF34) You can run bigger turbos on the 205 like a 20G but without AVCS its pretty laggy even on E85, and the bearings in the 205 really just can't handle giant turbos. |

Yes I am in the states , so I am 205. I am currently on pinks as far as injectors with FIC 1000cc on the way. Turbo is currently VF48, previously a VF34. |

Who are you using for tuning up in Hagerstown now? I'm guessing you're driving somewhere else. FIC is kind of a surprise to me. I know a lot of Subaru tuners prefer the ID line of injectors.

I get tuned at Turboxs in Gaithersburg. Our company has done business with FIC for many years and that's why I chose their package

No, just spent a couple years doing consulting work at Volvo/Mack Powertrain.

I guess I missed your comment in this thread. Since originally posting, I have actually picked up a .72ar housing. Going to post an update in the thread.

Just a little update on how this setup is going. Trying to bring to drivability back into this car. The 207 and avcs does "ok" off boost, usually not enough to jump aggressive soccer mom vans off the streetlight line but just enough. All jokes aside, the boost response is kind of piss poor with a stock internal 207 and the timing im running. For the record, absolutely no shade to my tuner, it's my choice to have mellow timing to conserve the motor but more torque off boost for around town driving is definitely desired. My big squawk with this entire setup is the gap between off boost drivability and getting into boost. They seem to be so far apart. One moment the car is a pig driving around off boost and then when i'm WOT, it's totally nuts. I think the .72 housing should liven up the overall powerband without having to drop to a g25-550. I thought i'd like to grow into my .92 housing but i've kind of lost focus on where I even want to go with this car anymore and big power (550+) isn't really the goal anymore. Didn't realize how sweet the vf37 and jdm 5 speed were til I switched to this setup lol. I'll post updates eventually on the retune with the .72. As for now i've picked up a rotated kit and i'm still saving for a 2.1L. If I can get those ducks in a row, i'll have a 2.1L and a rotated kit paired up with a 660 .72ar turbo. Should be in MY sweet spot then.

Yeah, my personal 2.1 has been on the road about a year, of course during a pandemic year, so I've racked up next to no miles.
I used my 3MI rods, and JE pistons, simple 79m donor crank from an EJ257. I ported my 205 heads and used USDM EJ255/257 exhaust cams. The VF22 has minimal lag with it. Quite a noticeable change from a regular 205. I have my rotated 6758 and 7163 ready for it. I have a feeling in testing I'll find similar results of being happier DD'ing the 6758. Totally understand your feelz Last edited by Homemade WRX; 05-20-2021 at 11:37 AM. |

Did you tune it yourself? That sounds like a really nice DD setup. And without AVCS I could see how the 6758 could be better on the street vs the 7163 Curious how the rebuilt 20G-XTR 10cm I got as a gift will perform with E85 on my stock EJ205 ahaha my expectations are low |

I was planning to get the 6758 and FMIC done and then worry about making a whole new map. |

Any updates on how the .72 AR worked out for you?
