Finally getting around to working on the legacy again. I moved up to Detroit in Jan of 2016, and this car has been sitting mostly neglected at my parents in PA.
Time to get things back to running condition... First up, going to Hodges to take care of the Takata airbag... and it seems I don't know how to post an image anymore... |

Good luck with the Legacy Gigs90. Hodges seems to keep more parts in stock than other dealerships in the area in my experience. Sellers has the best prices for parts online.
My son and I just installed an exhaust in his 05 STi last weekend and did a turbo inlet a couple of weeks before. Fun cars to work on. |

Rent a Hoist - Gearheads in Waterford
I should also add that my son and I had a great experience at Gear Heads Rent-a-Hoist in Waterford. Andrew the owner is a great guy and it's a clean, heated garage that you can rent by the hour. He has lots tools that you can use for free and also a bit better organized set you can rent. He'll also give you tips and help you through a project if you get stuck.
For total beginners like me it was just awesome. Please check them out if you need a place to work. You can text Andrew at (248) 383-8100. The shop is located at 5528 Dixie Highway in Waterford. Tell him Tim sent you! |

This looks like something I'd be interested in as well, wouldn't mind driving up from the city for a heated garage and hoist. Will make some upcoming projects a bit more attainable. |

Hey everyone, my name is Collin and I am new to the Nasioc club. I live in Rochester MI and I am looking to connect with some other Subi owners near me! I also was hoping that this would be a good forum to be apart of for possible meets or events coming up this summer (if COVID allows lol).
Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I am pretty excited to meet new people and be apart of a great car culture. Thanks! |

We usually have monthly meetups at High Octane Cafe or Pastiners when its nice out. The go to service shop is Flat Four Automotive in Troy if you need any work done. |

Hey thanks for the reply! That's great info! I am really looking forward to summer. I recently bought the STi in December and it comes from NC so the body is very clean. So I must be patient and wait for salt free roads lol

My first Subaru was a 2005 STi , its widely regarded as the best year due to its lighter weight and driveline setup. 5x114 is wonderful compared to 5x100. |

Welcome Collin
Hi Collin,
Welcome to the Subaru family. NASIOC is a great reference for "how to" information and I hope people continue to post questions and answers on this site as they remain accessible for a very long time. You also tend to hear about meet ups on this site. I would say the MISUBIE - Michigan Subaru Club page on Facebook is also a good place to hear about people getting together. The group is very active. What color is your car and what site did you find it on? I'm curious because I tend to watch most of the sale sites. TJ |

MISubie sadly is not what it used to be
It used to be a really great small forum of people then the facebook group came along taking the same name. They run pretty good events but there are a lot of idiots as with any facebook group. |

The 05 absolutely is the best year (IMO). I've wanted this car since I was a youngin in high school. I'm really glad I waited to get one till I was done with college because I am more mature (hopefully) and will treat the car with the respect it rightfully deserves. I am looking forward to learning more about it as this is my first "performance" turbo car. I had a chevy sonic for awhile and that was a snooze fest compared to the STi.

My car is the platinum silver blobeye STi with gold Rota wheels. I found it in December on FB marketplace. Man and it was not easy to find a legit seller. There are so many clowns on marketplace. Finally after 4 months I found my car and felt good about the seller and his honestly. He also had all the paperwork from the previous owners before him. |

Yeah avoid BC coilovers if you can. Many other good offerings out there. I know someone that has a set of TiC spec AST coilovers for sale for a great price.

I have a 15 WRX with a bunch of mods running e85. I have an e-tune from Brentune. I only drive it in the summer. I know some stuff about these cars but I’m no where near an expert and learning as i go.
My issue/question is: last fall before I stored the car I was getting 24-25psi of boost. Car pulls like crazy but pretty sure that boost level is too high. The last 3rd gear pull to verify tune was 21-22psi. After about two weeks of driving I started getting the 24-25psi. Thoughts, suggestions? |
