For those that like a small turbo, here is a TD04HL 19T 6+6 setup on my 2005 Saabaru wagon.
JDM EJ205 AVCS enabled
JDM STi ver7 intake manifold no TGV
OEM WRX exhaust manifold
JDM STi ver7 intercooler
USDM E type bypass valve
USDM STi dark blue injectors
Walbro 255 fuel pump
OEM air box
Grimmspeed crank pulley
Perrin turbo inlet
Cobb aftamaf
Cobb 3 port boost controller
Cobb catted down pipe
OEM STi up pipe
Stromung 2.5” catback

I’m actually very impressed with this little turbo, it is more responsive than the smaller TD04L at low rpm, spins very quickly and feels strong all the way to 7000rpm. No turbo lag is so good, curious to see what my VF48 ver7 STi bugeye will do on the same dyno.

Always been curious about a 19T setup. Looks like a fun street turbo

It’s not just the 19T wheel upgrade, the TD04HL is the biggest configuration of that particular turbo series. It’s very close in specs to a VF48 but it is a 6cm instead of 7cm. It just won’t flow the same amount of air as a VF48 but it is super responsive and unlike a stock small TD04L it continues to pull strong to 7000 rpm. I’m pleased with the outcome, the turbo responds to minimal throttle input very quickly, it’s so eager. I’m curious about the dip the graph takes, have to go out and log a run to see what is going on. I also want to see what the virtual dyno says, the performance shop dyno seems extremely optimistic.

I get that it's the HL. Everything I read on doing a 19T recommends using the HL version as it better supports the additional power. One of these days we will have to meet up for a drive

With this particular turbo, can you explain the 9 blade vs 12 blade turbine and gtx 11 blade vs 6+6 compressor? What would be the pros/cons of each? Think you could gain a bit out of EWG? Any issues with boost spikes?

There are videos on YouTube that can explain better than I. My turbo is a 12 blade hot side, 6+6 cold side. I wanted better low end and midrange, not much greater top end improvement. Have a good tune, a Cobb bellmouth down pipe and a Cobb 3 port boost Controller. I love the little turbo.

Who's your tuner?

Tuner’s are been forced out of business at the moment.

To be clear, did you use a new TD04HL-19T CHRA in the Subaru TD04-13T housings then or what? I wouldn't have just taken it as a give-in they can be interchanged like that

How is this turbo holding up? I’m seriously considering it for my ‘06 saabaru and we have a very similar mod list.

It’s been good so far. It shines on the 2L engine because it transforms the power delivery dynamics to naturally aspirated like.
I don’t think it is a good turbo for a 2.5L engine, too small a turbo.
