Default Tire Recomendations?

Just picked up a set of 2012 WRX rims im gonna put on my 2005 wrx wagon (actually a saab 92x). Ive been hearing the best size tire to go with is a 225/45r17.
Question is, does anyone know of a good budget performance tire? I cant go crazy because I have a long work commute but something semi decent as far as performance would be nice as long as its cheap

Achilles ATR Sport 2 are a great budget tire, Ive been running them for about 8k miles now. No complaints, good traction in both wet and dry and have taken a 1500 mile road trip on them with no issues.

Obviously there arent going to be in the same class as Pilot Super Sports or ExtremeContacts etc, but for a daily they're more than good enough in my opinion.

The Falken Azenis FK510 is a nice tire. It has pretty good dry grip and is also good in the rain. The ride is also pretty smooth and quiet.

cool thanks. I was also looking at Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 K120 Summers. Not sure how they compare to the Falkens but amazon has them for $105 each. Slightly cheaper than those Falkens

Yoko S-Drives.

Reasonably priced

300TW

Of course, you may be lucky and find a deal somewhere on a similar tire making it cheaper.

They aren't the best in the rain but have great dry performance for a 300tw for the price.

You may try General Tire G-MAX RS.

I have these on my 04 WRX. After $70 rebate they were $370 bucks. Then $100 installed. So far they have a slightly softer sidewall then Michelin’s. But the dry and wet grip have been great. Low road noise so far, but only have about 1000 miles on them. So time will tell.

Hey Shanesajda, if you are worried about premature wearing of tread, try using Nitto Grappler instead since it has an excellent tread life of around 40,000 to 50,000 miles.
