Internal Toyota leak. This makes 2 different sources "confirming" the same release date.

I want a Yaris GR4 so I can put one of those Calvin pissing on WRX stickers on the gigantic mudflaps I'd be needing.

"Crossover" could be anything since they also specified "CUV". I'm still holding out for the Yaris GR4. "AWD 3-door hatchback" = "Crossover" in my eyes.

It's called marketing spin. My Impreza is a wagon. Coupe sedans exist. Etc etc etc.

But is going to make the "whoosh" sound ? That is the biggest question. If so, it would be interesting to see where does it stand next to the 2.0 Supra.

That’s the big question... FA24 or FA24DIT

One I will buy, one I will not.

I am beginning to think we are not going to see a turbo 86 and maybe they confused the earlier reports of a turbo 4 with the Supra .

At $40k and 255hp, the new I4 Supra doesn’t leave much space, in price or performance, for a turbo 86. A manual 240hp 86 at $34k or so is going to snatch a ton of Supra sales. Any lower HP, or higher price, and I’m not sure it’s even worth the trouble.

Maybe Toyota gets a NA 2.4 86 to complement the Supra and Subaru gets a turbo BRZ as the coupe alternative to the WRX/STI?

That would be the ultimate win if they did that. It would satisfy the die-hard NA guys and me.

Also, they’re not exactly the same car -far from it. One it a low-rent 6MT 2+2 ****box $27K type, the other is a Luxo BMW 2-seater with much higher/better materials + auto.

That would be rad, but we’ll get F’d on the GR-4. Too many mouf breathers in the USDM demanding it be family-ized.

I just read on Motor1 that the expected hp for the 86 is 255 -- seems to be a persistent rumour, but doesn't make sense with the Supra 2.0 also at 255 hp. Their "intel" says it'll be called GR86.

I’d definitely rather have a 6MT 250hp 86 with a back seat than a 250hp AT BMW Supra. I hope that come to fruition.
