Thanks. I used to work for Canada Engines in Surrey, and would have no problem bringing Chevy stuff to them, but I never saw a Subaru motor in there.

I can't recommend any shops for work, as I don't take my cars in, but I'll second the Green Line Hose & Fittings shop... One of my relatives owns an excavation company, and I'm usually the one that brings the hydraulic hoses in for replacement when they fail. The guys there know what they're doing, and they're pretty quick about it. Not that most people will need that sort of stuff on their Subarus, but they also stock radiator hoses, gas lines, SS-braided brake lines (last I checked), all sorts of fittings, and the last time I was there they were working on getting a machine to bend solid brake lines.

Anyone know of any local BC JDM part importers?

Kevin at 5 mile has answered all of my questions and is pretty active in the Subaru community out east;
http://www.5mileimports.com/

Phillip at JDMPlace has also answered lots of questions;
http://www.jdmplace.com/

It would be nice to find one local to save shipping costs and hassles though.

I just had a Magnaflow catback installed on my 09 WRX by the fine folks at: http://www.sasperformance.ca

Just wanted to give them the thumbs up. excellent customer service. they charged me $80 for the install.

they are located in Burnaby. They also do suspension, wheels, tires, pretty much everything other than body work.

gonna go back here from now on for my regular maintenance and some suspension work in the future.

Edit: they also posted pics/videos of the install process on their facebook page. good stuff.

^^ I second that. When I had my spt exhaust and a weld snap I had them fix it and the service was top notch

I would give a big thumbs up to the crew at 5252 motorsports here on the island. They just did the Cobb exhaust on my car and were top notch. I have since had them order and import a bunch of parts for me and the service has been great.

Looks like Tire Trends no longer exists in B.C. - does anyone have any other recommendations for Canadian tire websites?

Alright, so after running some numbers, an FYI for people - you will only save money with Tire Rack IF you have them ship to a U.S. address and then bring them across the border yourself AND you don't have to pay taxes and duty (e.g., take advantage of the duty-free exemptions - $800 after 48 hours). However, if you have Tire Rack ship cross-border, you might as well order through Dale's because his prices are the same if not better than going through Tire Rack.

+1 For Dales; they take care of all the hassle, supporting a local shop and the price is competitive

My newbie FAQ thread question:
Do you have to officially join the VIC group somehow, or just drop in and post?

Just got my first Subie, a '93, about 6 weeks ago and looking forward to getting my butt handed to me at whatever local autoX and rallyX events I can make it to.

Making fun of my car and driving abilities is like making fun of a 3 legged dog... it's so easy you're going to feel bad about it.

+1 for Dent King (Jamie)

He did a good job getting out my dents (f.fender and p.door) and explaining the PDR process to me. Rate was fair. Good communication and helped me polish out a scuff I casually mentioned.

Hi VIC'ers!

Can someone update the FAQ for another PDR place which has great service and is mobile?

+1 for Dentcraft (www.dentcraft.ca)

Chad did a meticulous job of fixing a fist-sized dent in a quarter panel in my wife's 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS (quarter panels are always a pain to repair / repaint because they're such big pieces in unibody construction!).
Despite crossing a body line -- I can honestly say the repair looks perfect. It's been well over a year since the repair and there is absolutely no waviness or leftover signs at all. I really can't tell it was ever there.

I love how these guys own their company, are mobile and employ lightboards/reflector boards to fix above and beyond what the untrained eye cannot see. They really love what they do and it shows on their website and up-to-date blog postings.

Super-easy going and friendly. Easy, personable communication (you can submit your pics online or via smartphone and get an
estimate very quickly using their website) (I got a reply within a day).
Bonus is they take VISA for payment (so you can collect your points)

Hope it helps someone out!

Is there room enough to add a section for detailing?

I'd like to propose adding Lee the Detailer. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2515741
http://leethedetailer.webs.com/

Does great work, has a passion towards cars, and is an all-round great guy.

I had a number of scratches on the hood (one set of which were pretty deep), and lots on the rear bumper from moving lots of junk. The rear bumper scratches are all gone, the hood scratches are mostly gone - the deep ones were the only ones left, and they were about 95% dealt with... you need to be looking for them to actually find them. All this for a $160 one-stage polish package. As I mentioned in the NASIOC thread, it's the best $160 I've spent on my car's exterior appearance!

For wheel repair, how does Green's compare with Panther? And has anyone used Panther's pickup service?

Anyone know if rocket rally is out of the install and tune business? They've removed that part of their website.. and haven't responded to my inquiry about it.

Any other places in or around vancouver that you guys would trust to do installs + tunes? Specifically thinking about an upgraded turbo and supporting mods install + tune
