Default Need help: Have a gap between my hood and grille on my 2007 WRX

I've had this problem for a while and it's finally just annoying me so much that I want to fix it. I have a pretty substantial gap between the hood and the 3-piece grille on my 2007 WRX. The gap starts on the edges and tapers into a large gap in the middle. It's big enough to lucky funky and the rubber seal doesn't come down all the way so I know water can get in. I want to know what the problem is so I can fix it. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Anybody else experiencing this problem?

It was not like this for a long time, then one day it was like this. What I think could be the culprit is the foam piece between the cover and the bumper beam has it's little nipple tab protrusions that go into the bumper beam broken off. I replaced them by ghetto-rigging some screws in there. And I have already tried to play with the adjustable rubber stoppers and those did not help.

Pics!

Did you get into an accident? If so you'd have to get some planks of wood and try and force bend the center down.

No, I did not. I had a CF hood and no gap, then swapped bumpers, and still no gap, then I went back to my stock hood and there was a gap....and that is of course when I released those little kobbies were broken off and I think they were what were holding it up. But i'm not sure. I went back to the original bumper to and still a gap.

Same gap on my 07. Had it before and after a deer ran into it. I've adjusted the rubber stoppers and was able to move the latch down a smidge. If any water gets in it doesnt seem to be enough to cause any problems. I've been through some hellacious rains too.

Ah well... f it. I got a Rally Innovations light bar and the fog and driving lights will take the attention away from it.

I just noticed my 05 has a more substantial gap there than it should. I wonder if the chassis gives over time (it shouldn't) or if it is one of those adjustments that needs to be made once in a great while. I'll try to tweak my hood latch alignment/bump stops and see if I can make it go away.

Same thing on mine, but I've been in an accident...I just figured it was due to something shifting during the accident so it would never sit right again. Sorry I can't help.

The good news is that I found the cause and a solution to the drooping hawkeye bumpers.

Basically the foam bumper piece between the cover and the beam will wear out its knobbies and being to droop slowly. My fix was to put zip ties on the outer edges and the middle and hold it up via the bumper beam. Tied and secured, the bumper now sits a little taller and flush with the hood once again. Next time I take the bumper off I will get some pics to show where I hooked the zip ties.

Behold!

How about you all take off your bumper and figure it the f out instead of begging to be spoon fed every scrap of information possible. Foam. Zip ties. How hard can it be?
