Default ebay FX Stage 2 Kit (03 WRX)

Hi I was curious if anyone has had similar experiences and have recommendations with the FX series clutch kits (stage 2) sold on ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/FX-STAGE-2-...-/151682784130

I installed there kit + lightweight flywheel on a 03 WRX and the initial engagement in first gear is awful.

I know that its obviously new and going to grab more being a stage 2, but it is rather obnoxious, it acts like a puck clutch during first gear engagement, where the whole front of the car trembles and shakes violently when engaging; all other gears/shifts are smooth. I've only put about 300 miles on it, but about to call it quits as it doesn't seem to be improving with the added miles.

First of all, I find it hard to believe that a clutch kit with an MSRP of $915 is being sold for only $173. Something doesn't smell right but, after all, it is e-Bay.

It takes @least 500 miles for a clutch to break in so you still have a way to go before throwing in the towel.

If the clutch is stronger than you are used to, then it takes longer than you think to make the adjustment. You have to be more patient.

Kevlar clutch disks are not known to last long and glaze over much faster than an organic clutch. Based on what I saw, the clutch is Kevlar, not organic.

All that being said, several reviews do not have good things to say about this brand clutch.

You got exactly what you paid for, what is the issue? You bought both a clutch and a lightweight flywheel for $172. On a list of good ideas this is up there with invading Russia in November. First fault is using a lightweight flywheel which almost no one should use. You can't cheap out on clutches and you have to buy the right one for the amount of torque your car is putting out. Do it over and do it right....get you a South Bend clutch, call them if you are unsure of which one to buy.

I ran a stage 1 no name clutch on an OEM flywheel and also had terrible engagement sounds, it got better after 1k but never went away after 6k. Switched to a OEM clutch and never had problems again.
