Rear main oil seal in too far? UPDATED
Do you think this rear main oil seal is driven in too far?

Looks that way, yes. It's not flush with the block - how did you drive it in?

Cut a ring of plywood or MDF with a larger diameter than the seal. Use that with a mallet to drive the seal in.
A punch concentrates the impact too much. Even at the correct depth, you risk warping the seal. |
