Default 2018 Wrx/Sti Radio INFO factory wiring and connectors

Work in progress:

PLEASE READ!!!! -------please remember guys and gals, the way we are doing this is the way that i got it to work.... if you call my office (Idatalink) and you go on a rant about people on NASIOC are doing it...... well just know i get to hear about it. and not in a good way either..... i post up info to help people get stuff done, and also it helps my team understand the importance of having this firmware available for the public. I try my best to explain things and why they are done certain ways. Just a quick reminder to not yell at people when they say it isnt covered yet. Thanks in advance-------

We also do not have the SOS button panel or its components on the Canadian ones either as far as I know. Would this likely change the wiring we would need to do? I figure it must...

I believe ours doesn't have the telematics unit and basically makes it a simpler setup since there's one less "middle man" unit to wire up.

Okay I thought so yeah. When I had the dash open for something else, I didn't recall seeing anything that looked like the telematics unit depicted here.

i got a 2016 forester head unit with the telematics unit attached. I promptly threw that in the garbage and plugged the head unit into my canadian model WRX and everything worked properly.

*note: on the "leftcoast" when we say "threw that in the garbage" of course we mean "drove responsibly through our forests in our electric cars to the nearest electronics recycling depot...while hugging trees and protesting pipelines"

Wifey just bought a 2018 Forester. she has radio FF679UM and there is the Telematics unit underneath it. We bought the SU-2 wire harness kit but there is a bunch of unknown little jumper harness'. Do i need to keep the Telematics unit? phd12V can you supply me a wiring diagram? This is so much more complicated than my 2015 WRX

Yeah the telematics unit is responsible for the connected Starlink feature (the Subaru OnStar, basically), and the systems checks and those emails people get about their car. Canada doesn’t have that... or tpms, thankfully.

You'll have to rewire stuff. Just plug it back in and shove it down in the dash. There are some plugs from the factory radio that won't be used.

Ok i figured out the SU-2 harness. we got everything mostly connected with it, however it did not come with a radio antenna adapter. luckily i had one. All the steering wheel controls work.

We had to disconnect and remove the Telematics unit, there is no room to put it back in.

now the issues we have:
No sound coming out of the front speakers. yes we connected all the wires, green, white, purple, and grey.

the gauges dont seem to work, I am plugged into the ODBII port and the gauges screen on the radio says ignition off. The engine is actually running.

another thing i discovered is the XM antenna has a different connector than the 2015. In my 2015 WRX I just had to remove the connector housing and plug the pin into the XM receiver. Cant do this in the 2018.
