The spoiler is growing on me. On the one hand, I don't like that it's not the right spoiler for the car. But on the other hand, I like what it's doing for the overall look. The small spoiler with the big diffuser gives the car a very trapezoid feel.

Tried my hand at cramming more things on to the front of the car.
Not too long ago, I picked up a Racer X FMIC. The core with that kit for sure would not fit with the oil cooler. My roommate had a smaller core lying around and it was still too big. It fits. But it's at an angle which isn't ideal. If it was 1" shorter it would be perfect. I am in the process of getting a smaller core. But I needed to get a bumper cover back on. A friend gave me his old bumper which has been cut for FMIC and brake ducts. I wasn't sure if I wanted to trim my white bumper at least that night so I put the trimmed one on. As it turns out, the '11-'14 bumper is a little wider at the bottom. The ends of the fender liners stuck out a bit. One of the things holding me back on the white bumper was removing the fog lights. Total PITA but I got it done. Trimming was actually easier than I thought. I might have been too aggressive with my cutting wheel choice though. It was hard to tell if I was actually cutting the plastic or just melting it. It was like running a hot knife through butter. White bumper trimmed and on. Can't even really tell that there's an interfooler in there. Other things... I finally got a rack of my own. I had been borrowing a friend's rack. With mine, I immediately modded the wind deflector so that I could flip it around and have it be all black. But that didn't last long... When I ordered the Prova rear view mirror, I also ordered side mirrors. Those finally showed up after 3 months of waiting. They are super awesome though. Got a bunch of stuff from Subaru.
There was a rear cup hold on this car at some point. I got a replacement. I got a black passenger pillar to match the black gauge pod. I got a forester rear wiper to replace the stupid composite wiper. I also went through and changed all the wipers. Now they all match and work extremely well. I got a rear bumper protector. And finally, I finally replaced the missing fender liner. That thing sucked. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-19-2022 at 12:23 AM. |

Got some rice.
Figured this would be easier than dealing with resistors for LEDs like I did with the old car. I got the strobe version. I like it a lot and I think it's hilarious. I also picked up a splitter. It's huge and pointless. I had a splitter cut for the old car which should be more effective. But it's too small for this car. Some comparison on the two. As you can see, the new black piece is completely hollow. The old silver piece was cut out enough so that it didn't interfere with the exhaust. But the silver piece is nowhere near as big st the black piece. I got some turnbuckles and some pins for them. This project is ongoing. But I think I have some awesome ideas. I also have the keys for the rack floating around. Got some keychains made for them to make it harder to lose them. I think they came out pretty good. Got down and cleaned my wheels.
During the winter, the car was never washed and it ate through an entire set of pads and rotors. So, there is an entire set of pads and rotors caked on to the wheels that has been solidified with rainwater. I didn't think Sonax would cut it so I decided to get a big gun. Muriatic Acid. After the first pass; Second pass; Third pass; After that I gave up on taking pictures. I had a gallon of acid. Here's the dirtiest wheel when I was out of acid. The back was clean. But there was still buildup on the face. I got more acid and got them clean. But, holy **** was that a lot of work. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-19-2022 at 12:16 AM. |

Now this thread is current!
Last September, the car was having a rough time at the track. It couldn't stay cool for ****. Cyber Monday came around and I bought a radiator. I've had this box just sitting since last November... Last week, I opened it. It's a Mishimoto X-Line Radiator. I dislike that it has a giant stupid M on it. But, today, I installed it. It's quite a bit larger than the stock radiator. Especially when it comes to thickness. But I got it in and it fit really well. There's zero wasted space. It also fit with my Cobb radiator shroud. Although the shroud doesn't completely cover it like I had hoped it would. Overall, I'm really pleased with it. Driving around on the street, I'm seeing similar temps that I saw with the old car. The old car never had any temp problems on the track. I have track time scheduled next weekend so We'll see how it does then. But we won't see a true test until later in the summer when it starts to get warmer. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-19-2022 at 12:15 AM. |

Back to working on the splitter...
I made a bracket... Thing. Mounted the inner silver piece. And then I took it all apart again. With everything apart... I changed out all the bulbs in the headlights. There are now LEDs in the turn signals and 4000k halogen bulbs in the low and high beams. I removed the WRX badge from the grille. I mounted turnbuckles to the bumper beam. I removed the interfooler and located the oil cooler bottom center. And I finally fitted some brake ducts. Everything back together, it's kinda legit now. I also got to the end of the XP20 pads. I learned that they have frustrating metal pins in them so it's actually somewhat impossible to wear them all the way to the backing plate. I have a nice pile going... Full set of XP12s went on. All done just in time to go back to the track. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-19-2022 at 12:13 AM. |

Once the sun rose, it was a beautiful day at the track. (I love overcast)
Overall things went well. The track was very green. California got some rain over the winter and the track got a good wash from it. On top of that, it was rather cold and it rained a bit during the third session. Needless to say, grip was very limited. I also hit a snag. I lost the bolts that connect my midpipe to my downpipe. Nearest place was a Walmart. Thankfully, they did have some bolts that worked. Overall: Radiator worked Splitter seemed to work Not sure if the brake ducts did or didn't work. I was getting weird feedback from my brakes. But it was good to be back on track. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-19-2022 at 12:11 AM. |

So, I'm looking at my brakes. The pads seem to have sunk into the brackets a bit which leads me to think they're quite worn. I should probably order more pads. (Yeah, already) Mostly because I have two more track days scheduled for April 1st and 2nd. I don't think these pads will last both days.
I'm hesitant to go for more XP12s as they were unreasonably dull at the track. I don't understand why. The pedal feel was consistent. After checking the rotors, they didn't have the cracks that I had grown used to. I did however had smoke coming off the brakes at the end of a couple of sessions. But I don't think they were getting overly hot. Going back out on the street, the bite was great. The car stopped great again. I'm tempted to try XP20 again. But this time... And it pains me to say this... Actually change pads between street and track. |

That jump!
Nice simple lines, no frills. That's the way to drive an AWD car. Might want to work on your downshifting though, Jourdan. That 3>2 shift has me cringing each time... |

Thank you. My downshifting is much to be desired. 4 to 3 isn't terrible. I have a hard time with 3 to 2 for some reason. I had a slightly better grip on it with the old car. But I noticed that I was really close to money shifting and kinda instilled some fear about going to 2. |

The slope I'm on is getting slippery. Even since I found out that there are only six bolts holding in the rear seat, I was curious to how hard it would be to pull out...
It's not as loud and annoying as I thought it was going to be. But really, I did it to fit a bunch of wheels and tires. I might have started looking at half cages. I didn't realize that the Autopower bars were only $600. I thought they were a lot more. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-18-2022 at 08:35 PM. |

Back at the track...
RPF1 racing was back in effect! The car held up well. I brought a temperature gun and recorded my brake temps. Turns out that my ducts were actually making my brakes hotter. Monday called for a complete brake change. I found a new use for the splitter! Front rotors were thin. Rears even thinner. I now have a nice pile of spent rotors... Front pads were also gone. These had 3 track days and about 1,500 miles on them. Tires are also pretty much done... Calipers aren't looking great either... All of my wear items are pretty much hitting me at once. But it gets better! I found that my fastest lap of the weekend included two passes and a yellow flag! I moved the start/finish. Had I not let off for the Porsche and the flag, I would have been around 2:09.xxx. My goal for the weekend was 2:10. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-18-2022 at 08:31 PM. |

Some update action...
Some one hit my car in the parking lot. Going to need some touch up paint. Made an attempt at some more roof damage. Finally got my hands on another spoiler. Some glory restored. A loose patch cable found its way into my car. Thought it would be cool to hang from the tow hook. Melted it with the exhaust almost instantly. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-18-2022 at 08:21 PM. |

What the? 10 image limit?!
Friend had a BOV. This got me excited about BOVs. Friend wanted to sell his but it's blue. I wanted a black one. Bought a black one. Kompact compared to stock. Install was super easy. Still working on fine tuning the adjustment on it. Overall, I'm stoked with it. I want a better flowing exhaust for more aggressive afterfire. Last edited by JourdanWithaU; 07-18-2022 at 08:19 PM. |

Sold some wheels (Slipstreams) and bought some wheels (DPTs). Plastidip sucks. Previous owner dipped the DPTs... poorly.
Finally took the car in to get the air bag and relay recalls done. Had to cruise around in a Chevy IMPala. Stupid A-holes had my car for a week and trashed my shift knob. Someone was decent and got me a replacement knob. I never want to take my car back to a dealer. Misjudged a driveway and dragged my bumper. Grew the crack that was forming. It seems that cracks in this area are actually pretty common. Debating zip ties. Rehashing some bits from the original rice wagon. One of my high beam bulbs burnt out. So naturally, this meant baking the headlights. I ordered replacement bulbs. To get free shipping, I also ordered yellow fog light bulbs, and two decks of cards. I was posting these pictures to facebook with LazyTown lyrics. I know, I need to clean up my lenses. Fogs before putting them back into the bumper. VIOLA! Since I had the bumper off, I took the opportunity to unplug the DRL resistor. No more DRLs! It's like the old car! Just a little bit less ricey.
