If not, do you also have one to replace the oem bushing to make shifts more direct/crisp?

P.s. Nothing against you guys, but that rally sport direct review is poorly done. It doesn't show the full install, and it doesn't show the difference in shift throws..
The Kartboy bearing goes on the end of the shift cable assembly, much like the Perrin brass shifter bushing. KB includes 2 thick steel washers, a bolt and a nut to aid with pressing the bearing into the sleeve.

Anyhow. the stopper samples are due in today.

Anyone who wants to be a tester. send me an email with your shipping address and what shifter mods you have on the car right now. I'll pick a bunch at random. [email protected]

Has anyone received their "thingamajig" samples from Tom? Care to comment how the product has tested out so far?

Got it yesterday, installed this morning in about 10 minutes. Long story short, it does what it's supposed to do, eliminating the slop. Shifts feel much cleaner and precise. Makes me wonder why our cars don't come this way stock when there's such a simple fix... either way, I fully recommend it whenever the final version comes out!

Received my sample Saturday (I am on the east coast) and installed it today. With the piece in hand you can tell it is a quality part, well designed. It is surprisingly sturdy feeling in hand.

Install took 13 minutes, my first time doing it (~1/4 though the redhot candy). Very easy install. I followed the directions for Perrins shifter stop.

Of note, other shift mods that I have: derlin shifter bushing, kartboy short shifter.

After testing it out, it definitely made the 1-2, 2-1, and 3-2 shifts greatly improved. 2-3 was moderately improved. Shift having to do with 5 and 6 gears are also better, but that I feel is due to adjustment of the stock shift stock.

I love how it feels very similar to the stock shift stop, which I think sets it apart from the competition.

I did install 2 m6 stainless washers similar to the ones that are included with Perrins kit. I am not sure if they really make much of a difference, but I think Kartboy should include them just to make sure there are no drawbacks to the Kartboy solution.

The shift stop really transforms this shifter and was the best shifter modification I have done on this car. Highly recommended.

I realized during my install that you don't need to do any adjustments. Side the reverse lockup to the right, drop in kartboy shifter stop, and side everything to the left. DONE!

If you noticed, the bolt holes are longer than Perrin's and push up against the reverse lockout. The little tab on the bottom rests on the edge of the shifter assembly. Perfect fitment with any adjustments.

Thanks for engineering the part to work perfectly without the annoying need to adjust, Tom.

No no. Thank you. Care to share the washer size or can I send you a SASE and a couple quarters?

Hey tom, i purchased the shifter stop directly from your website and there were no washers included. No biggie if i can just go to a local hardware store to pick it up. Can you send me the washer size? a previous post said M6? is that all i need to find it?

Subaru needs to put Kartboy on the development team, this out of all the mods I've done is the best. I honestly thought I would miss out on the shorter arm short throw units the past models had but I could care less at this point; the shifts are how they should've come from the factory. The prototype shiftstop is excellent, no complaints whatsoever, just a better drive day to day.

thanks so much

To be fair to Subaru, they have to produce higher volumes of parts and at lower cost. Not to say that Kartboy didn't do a better job.

This. We were in talks with SOA a LONG time ago. The margins were no where close to making any profit...

Yup. I work in engine components and the OEs are kicking people to the curb over a tenth of a cent. It's hard to make good cars and line the wallets of investors. No automotive engineer feels good about the compromises they make, but the bottom line is everything.

I purchased the shifter arm thru the first group buy that didnt come with the bearing. Is it worth getting the shifter bearing, and how hard is it to install the bearing itself? I've had the shifter arm installed the same week I received delivery of my car back in September, and I love it. Also, should I get a shift stop as well if you have one? Trying to make shifting as seem less as possible.

Shoot me an email direct to tom at kartboy dot com with your order number. The kit should have included a bearing setup. I'll throw in a stopper for the mistake.

It's been a while since anyone has posted here, but I thought I'd ask...

Tom - any change in plans for developing a STS lever arm?
