Patriot Subaru South (N. Attleboro, MA)
This dealership just opened up in North Attleboro, MA right near Fireside Nissan and Boch Toyota. I'm only a 5 minute drive away from the dealer. I went in with my father to take a look at the new legacy's and foresters. (He's thinking of purchasing for his next car) the staff is extremely friendly and they make it a point to make your experience a good one. There is a golden retriever that sometimes hangs out at the dealer. Named Subie. Haha
I met the service manager Joe who is a younger guy. He has 11 years experience and recruited his service department with all experienced techs who have worked for other dealers. All with a few notches in their belt for service experience. I'm very impressed with them so far and I'll be going to them for my service now. All of my service was at Mastria beforehand. But for convenience and how impressed I am so far I'll be giving Joe my business. Highly recommend them to anyone. Sent from my iPhone using NASIOC

Excluding when I have time to do my own work, I do all my servicing with these guys. Service department is great.
Sales on the other hand, I tried repeatedly to buy my '15 WRX from them. Trip 1, talked to GM and salesman (whom admitted he was new) and worked some numbers on ordering a car the way I wanted it. Wouldn't let me test drive a WRX so I decided to shop around first and return later if I decided I really wanted to go with a WRX. I ended up test driving a WRX elsewhere while shopping, returned to Patriot because I wanted to buy from them, walked in and talked to salesman and manager. This time they basically told me either buy off the lot or don't, they won't order one. Since all they had were CVT's I walked out. A salesman called me about a week later, I explained to him what I'd been through and he apologized profusely and tried to arrange for me to come in and he assured me we could order one how I wanted. I finally agreed, sat with him for an hour, did paperwork, and was told they weren't taking any more '15 orders and '16's couldn't be ordered for a couple months. Oh but they'd be happy to sell me one off the lot, not at all how I wanted it, for well over MSRP. I left that day, called around dealerships in the state, found a loaded Limited somewhere else for a great price and bought it. Beyond this headache I'd also mention that the sales staff seemed to have 0 knowledge on the cars they were selling (besides what features could be tacked on). I had one salesman tell me he was new and learning the products, I appreciated the honesty and we had a nice chat about Subaru's. The others were ridiculous, one tried to tell me he was 100% sure the STI was rear-wheel drive and another tried to tell me that STI's originated from the Fast and Furious movies. In short, Excellent service department (so far), but wildly un-knowledgeable sales staff and clearly don't care at all about customers. |

Planet Subaru
I got quotes from patriot, mastria, cityside, planet and a nh dealer. Only planet subaru stepped it up. But in all fairness it was the salesman Joe at planet that did. I called and couldnt remember joes name name so i talked to a woman that tried to screw me think her name was deb brewster or something, she didnt want to budge i was at 41k for an sti limited. I talked to joe and settled at the high 30's. I dealt with betty as well but she was way off on the numbers. Then followed up a month and a half after I ordered my car.

I have a 2016 Forrester from Patriot that just hit 30K miles. I'm a fairly recent retiree and now I have the time to research service costs. Got a quote from Patriot for $379, which is cheaper than the quote I got from Somerset Subaru ($425). Admittedly, Somerset wants to do more things to the car. Which gets me to my point. Both dealerships want to replace the PCV valve and the break fluid. The service schedule I got with the car doesn't even mention replacing the PCV valve as a part of maintenance and has a footnote to replace the brake fluid every 15K miles in humid (I live on the coast) or mountainous areas. I have no problem with that. But what's with the PCV valve? Somerset wanted to replace the coolant and a couple of other things not due not according to the service schedule. The manual says to replace the coolant at 11 years or 137.5K miles (AT). Edmunds.com has a really good write-up on how to deal with dealerships that drive maintenance costs up. Now that I think about this, I guess Patriot is NOT out of line and I will go with them. BTW, the radio/GPS display has gone bad on the car. You can't read it when the sun shines on it. And the Bluetooth and one other part of the display is grayed out. I know someone who has the exact same car that had the same problem. He tells me his dealer replaced the entire radio module under warranty. Patriot is telling me they have to check the problem before they will commit to fixing it under warranty. Thanks for any comments.

I just took my '15 WRX into patriot yesterday. The AC compressor failed (bearings inside the unit) & a rattling clutch pressure plate + whiny TOB. I bought my WRX w/ a 7y 100k CPO.
They told me that SOA doesn't warranty clutches as they are a maintenance item but on this one occasion they will replace it. Mary at the service desk was pleasant, and they repaired everything I brought it in for under warranty. My one irk is that the Multi-point inspection said they checked Tire pressure... which they did not. Overall great service experience. |
