Default differential switch

in that link they updated this

"Edit - 3/7/09: Since I initially wrote this DIY, I've learned that the basic AWD design of the 4EAT transmission has been around (and mostly unchanged) since the 1987.5 model year and is in use to this day in the non-VDC cars."

"The following work was done on a 1999 Impreza Outback Sport with a bone stock transmission. This should work on the later (02+) vehicles with VTD/VDC, but it's not really necessary because from what I've seen and read, the VTD is a huge leap forward, and controls torque very nicely. I obviously haven't tried it myself, so feel free to be a trailblazer."

does this mean that a in a 2008 2.5i its not necesary to do that? ive read somewhere that the power distibution its 60/40 in this new cars.(just asuming not shure)

Guys,

there is an insane amount of gaged interest toward N/A tuning. I must have gotten 20PM's since this thread was opened.

Im thinking about doing a group buy / tune session.

3 cars: $125 for a complete tune per car

5 cars: $100 per car

10 cars: $80 per car

PM me or post up here and I can start a list in the proper section

Thanks guys,

Mikey

There is a significant interest in N/A tuning because off the shelf tunes are not readily available for our cars, and the ones that are come at an outrageous price. Also, most of us aren't nerdy enough to learn opensource to the level needed to do a safe and good tune on our dd's.

Hey OP here,
FYI this is an open source tune, your physical location matters not. Just need a Tactrix cable (or something similar) and a laptop.

Mikey-
Glad this worked out for you guys!

If you are on the East Coast and interested in a tune, Dent Sport Garage, just outside Boston, tunes NA Subies. They way the gains were described to me is that you don't see much actual HP, what you get is a more usable power curve and a hugely improved DBW throttle response.

And, they have an AWD dyno. No idea what they charge, it's not on my immediate mod list.

What I'm quoting for is an in person, on road or e-tune.

I'm in CT, not CA. I tune out of The Shop in Norwalk, CT and we have an AWD dyno as well

Gotcha, sorry, thought you were west coast. Apologies for stepping on your thread. Thought I was posting an East Coast alternative.

your not out. This is for all N/A subies (the special). We can e-tune your car as well, as you probably do not want to drive to CT.

Hey guys!

So here is the deal as of now. I have heard from 11 people in total.

blckout7
ABill10
Sniper913
Lemons
manapuaman
Cpbteeeee
GEE-OTTO
razrielie
BlueMolecule
Jeonster
Panter Punch

Now, I have 5-7 who say they are definite, but only 1 or 2 that have the cable, software and are ready to go.

Many have asked about the process of acquiring the cable and software, and I have gotten back to those people.

Just to review:

go to www.romraider.com

You need to download romraider and ecu flash as well as logging and vehicle respective definitions (the site will take you through it)

If you need help with this, contact me and I will do what i can via PM. If you are still having problems, Ill give out my cell number as well as my partner's number for support.

It seems as of now we will be between 4-8 people, I'm figuring. The price will be, as of now, 100 per car (which includes an extra map if needed for a different octane).

If we hit the 10 mark by next friday, the 23rd of July, 20 dollars will be refunded to the participants.

Payment for the group rates starts today, and ends next friday, the 23rd. By paying sometime during the next week, this will entitle you to the group buy rates (100 for 2 maps). If payment has to be made later than friday, the standard $150 + $50 for second map applies.

Paypal is:

[email protected]

Please gift the payment or include the 3% paypal fee.

Thanks guys,

Mikey and Ron

Update:

blckout : tuning in person weds, july 21st
lemons : paid

a quick note about the 2009 2.5i cars. They are supported by romraider, but even with the latest definitions, i can not communicate with some cars. I hooked up to two 09's the other day, 1 was fine, the other wouldnt communicate at first then after while i got the stock map but the file wasnt recognized.

This leads me to believe there was a mod year ecu switch/update.

As far as logs go:

using romraider, please log the following

engine rpm
engine load
total ignition timing
feedback knock correction
fine learning knock correction
IAM

Please let me know what specific intake you have as I may ask for a few other things.

Thanks,

Mikey
