Its basically the same as 02-03 usdm wrx with the additions of the sti functions.

Use a standard automotive relay.
Cut the abs wire a couple inches back from the cluster. Crimp on female spade connectors to both sides.
Relay pin 85 to ground, Relay pin 86 to the car side of the cut abs wire.
Relay pin 30 to +12 volts
Relay pin 87a to the cut abs wire going to the cluster.

Next time I get a 05-07 USDM sti cluster in for mileage adjustment I mite give it a try if I have time.
I tried this to my v7 ukdm cluster, but it did not work. The abs light is still on. Any other ideas?

Was abs light on without the relay?

I think you mite need the abs to go to ground not just floating when not powered.

Try this.

Move the wire going to the cluster from pin 87a to pin 30
Move +12 going to pin 30 to pin 87a
Ground pin 87

So, over all you would have this:
Relay pin 85 and 87 to ground, Relay pin 86 to the car side of the cut abs wire.
Relay pin 87a to +12 volts
Relay pin 30 to the cut abs wire going to the cluster

With this when you get +12v from the abs the cluster gets 0v (ground) and when you have 0v or almost 0 from the abs the cluster will get +12v.

I have a 04 sti cluster. I cant decide if I want to do the easy swap and put it into my05 wrx. Or do a more indepth and sort of more cool/different. Swap it into my built/swapped 04FXT... hmmmmm.

Hi Guys

I'm in the UK (yeah I know, who'd have guessed by the name right??). I've just bought (and fitted a set of STi Defi clocks to my 04 blob WRX and I have to say of all the threads I've read on many sites this has to be without a doubt the most informative and useful, so thank you for that.

Here is where I am at so far....

Clocks in
C9 cut audible alarm off.
I seem to be getting confused as to which wires to earth for diff temp and parking brake (Stephen Hawkings I ain't!)

Bearing in mind that last bracketed comment, I'm confused by the relay required for the ABS light. Is it a wire relay or a box relay? The car is at ScoobyClinic on Tuesday so I could get them to do it but I'm having one of those, "you're 37. Grow up its just a wire" moments ***128514;

I'm going to try this today, but ever since I tried the first mod, my oat is reading way wrong. It is 43 there today, and it is reading 73/74 degrees. any ideas on why this is?

I assume your running the stock OAT wiring as I don't remember selling you one of my harnesses?

B3 should be the ABS warning light wire, but a1 on a non sti (or A2 on an STi) also comes from the abs controller. which wire did you cut?

Now it blinks for a second and goes off, until I start the car. But I still need to ground pin 85

Without 85 grounded the relay will just send 12v to the cluster. also make sure you used a 12v source that's is off when the ignition is off.

I am using the solid red wire on the cluster harness as my 12v source. Is there a better wire to tap into? Because with 85 grounded now, it acts like before, not even blinking now. Also, any idea on the oat issue?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get th "si drive and lock" to stop blinking. It's 2008 Sti cluster that I swapped into my 2011 wrx.

So, I think you should try this just ground the wire going to b3 (the abs wire). that should turn the ABS light off. that will check that at lest that work correctly.

I just tried a relay connected like this.

Relay pin 85 and 87 to ground, Relay pin 86 to the car side of the cut abs wire.
Relay pin 87a to +12 volts
Relay pin 30 to the cut abs wire going to the cluster

On a prodrive cluster (on the bench, not in a car) that has the abs light on with nothing connected to b3
When I connected up the relay it worked as I thought it should. When you have 12v to relay pin 30 the lights off. if relay pin 30 is ground the lights on.

A7 on the Wrx diagram or C7 on the STi diagram.
Its pin 7 on the 10 pin green connector.

Below is a link for the wiring I used for my 05 STI cluster in my 98 2.5rs. I had to switch from a 2 wire speed sensor to a 3 wire one. It works pretty well. The climate stuff I never hooked up so obviously that is blank.

The only real issue I have is with the brake light. B19 grounded should clear the brake light on the cluster, but it doesn't. I confirmed the wire going into the cluster will read ground when ebrake is pulled. But the light comes on and always stays on. I think something else is grounding it inside this "reverse circuit" box inside the cluster. I don't have A2 hooked up as I don't have ABS in the car. I tried grounding it for the hell of it to see if it would make any difference but it didn't. I'd like to cut the trace on the cluster but I pulled the back off and couldn't seem to find it. I have a feeling it's on the other side of the board and I don't want to pull my gauge needles off to find out. Has anyone else had to deal with this? For now I just slid a piece of electrical tape behind the black plastic where it says "brake".

And I also measured the resistance of the dimmer stock on my 98 2.5rs and one for an 05 sti. Both read between 2.1 ohms and 9.7k ohms. So the dimmers are the same. The difference I think is the sti goes off of a 5v source and the RS uses a 12v source. I cut the wires coming off of the B71 (turn signal plug) for pins 10, 11, 12 so that I had about 3" of pigtails. Then I wired them up like the sti diagram shows.

STI cluster B20 goes to PIN 12 of B71 pigtail
STI cluster B22 goes to PIN 11 of B71 pigtail
STI cluster B23 goes to PIN 10 of B71 pigtail

This allows my cluster to dim just like it does if you were in an sti. The center console lights are also still lit up in a dim setting which I like.

Ok, so I have it wired to 12v like you said (pin 7 [green wire] on the 10 pin connector) and the relay wired as directed. No my abs light starts off, then comes on and stays on. Any ideas? Accessport reports no codes.

Also, just to make sure, B3 is a yellow wire with a black stripe correct?

Ok, so I am pretty sure I am tapped into the wrong wire. I disconnected everything and reconnected b3 to itself and now my oat reads correctly.

Ok, so I was reading the wiring diagram backwards. Now that I am actually on b3, I hooked everything up like you said. The abs light never comes on. Thank you.
