Well I am schedule for a pro tune in Dallas Tx next month would it be safe to put everything on and just take it easy on the car until I drive it down there? All I have on right now is the CB and cold air with stage 1 map. car makes 18psi drives great I just love the way the DP makes it sound. My up pipe is in just not sure if I should put it on.

Stock longblock will always be more reliable than a built engine though so it’s a trade off; imo a stand-alone ecu should be the first thing you buy if you want reliability |

I just bought my first Subaru and when I got in touch with my local tuner and told him the build list the previous owner had he said that's a 400whp car easy, it really sounds unlike any Subaru I've ever heard

reading through this from 07 till now is a ride. haha.
just wanted toss my 2 cents in. 400whp is a lot of fun as a daily for the right kind of driver. I'm a speed freak so more power is normally my answer to everything. I was worried how my STi would handle on my 65 mile each way commute to work and back. Turns out it was actually not much different from when it was stock or when it was stage 2. Under normal traffic driving it handles the same as before. Boost doesn't come in till 3k and up so it just putters around like an N/A car in beltway traffic. Now the last half of my drive is nothing but 70mph speed limit highways and then I'm happy I have that extra ump. Overall I'm glad I did it. Now I'm adding flex fuel to have more fun on the weekends. Guess the tldr advise I can give to anyone wanting 400whp is, do it if you aren't a bitch. If you default to complaining about lag, or heavy clutch, or anything like that. Keep it stock or under stage 2 and be happy. |

Good read
I honestly really needed to read this. It’s was great to see what extent you would have to go to get a WRX up to 400hp. Although I day dream of all the crazy **** I could do with this car, this was a well appreciated wake up call. I have been moving my head out of the clouds in my own but this … THIS really got me there. I love researching and learning but could not afford to live that lifestyle. I will focus on drivability mods and maintenance. My 2017 WRX MT is second hand. Figuring out for sure, what has been done. It’s not stock and there has to be a tune. In any regard, it runs well and is fun as all F@!$!
Thanks again for the read !!! This was a wonderful first post to read. Cheers !! |

Because I want it.
[quote=Defiant Autospeed;20142198]I see these posts on a weekly basis. We all do. It always makes me feel really aprehensive (sp?) when I read it. So I just wanted to put this out there for those that are asking this question.
Are you relatively new to the Subaru thing? Have you ever owned a TRUELY high performance import before? Have you ever owned any HIGH powered car before? Do you have fairly deep pockets? So if my answer is yes and I want the 400whp and most dynos and money is not an issue, but I want it to be reliable? I’m fine with an engine swap if it means better reliability or easier power. Whatever it takes to get me there. Where would I go for that info? Another requirement is that it has to be 2006/2007. |
