Hi Big-E.

Thank you for your continued support and participation in this years Scoobies for Boobies campaign.

In response to your question, the 02-07 UR's you are referencing have been the same since their release in 2006.

The clearance specifically incorporated into the front, allows for a wider ranger of aftermarket wheel compliance and compatibility - without sacrificing any outer coverage.

Example (GR)

As you may already be aware, the Classic application's characteristics are much "stiffer", do not require additional mounting within the confines of the wheel well area.
The UR's are much more flexible and the clearance helps avoid any tire interference.

Thanks much
Team R/A

I bought Rally Armor's Motorsport Spec mudflaps and fitted them.

They are twice as thick, and provided both the outside (vertical) and bottom (horizontal) coverage I wanted.

They are very nice, very durable, actually cut-down on some road-noise, and are not inexpensive.

As compared to the regular UR's (left is front, right is rear):

I got a set of the URs for Christmas! Just got them on the car over the weekend. Great to have protection for the paint.

Just installed these on my 2012 WRX.

Some thoughts on installation:

- Give yourself a good three hours to install these if you've never done it before. Make sure you have some place out of the sun for the install - I can't imagine baking in the sun doing the install.

-Get the offset screwdriver that RA sells...and also get some stubby screw drivers.

-Do the fronts first... Much harder than the rears. Might as well be in a great mood when you get done, and the rears are much easier.

- You will be scared of breaking something when you pull off the lower skirt. As a result, it will take you forever because you won't pull hard enough. Eventually, frustration will allow you to dial in the right amount of force.

- You don't need to take the wheels off.. But you will want to reorient the front wheels at various times depending on what you're trying to do. For the rears, the inner most screw is a pain to fasten...so take off the rear wheels OR just fasten that portion of the bracket to the mud flap before mounting it up.

- Instead of eyeballing the rears for being level, just get a level measure - make sure the ground is level, and then use the level on the mud flaps.

- There's a video online that goes you how to do it... Their advice on the rear is much harder than just following the instructions that RA provides.

Going to bump this up to write a nice review.

This weekend I caught a curb while parking. It pinched the mudflap between the wheel and the curb and pulled it right off. Upon inspection though, it was just a bit scuffed up. The urethane must have stretched enough to allow it to slip over the washer and mounting nut, preventing any real damage. When I got home I pulled the bracket off to straighten it a bit, and slipped the flap right back on. Good as new.

I was impressed and have been very happy with the product.

Anyone else having this issue with their RA Mudflaps? They are practically melting on me. Not sure if it's the weather or manufacturer defect. Been cleaning them thoroughly every couple of months but it doesn't look good at all. Looked great the first couple of months. Bought these in March and they are not holding up well at all.

What should I do?

Submitted a ticket to RA and received a very quick response.

Quote:
Hi Palmer

Sorry to hear of your issue.

Thanks for forwarding those photos. We are currently working towards a long term resolution to the reported issue on the trial white applications originally released.
Since we are unable to offer you a concrete release date on an updated white mud flap, we wanted to offer you a replacement black or a red set.

We understand that this is a disappointment, however we feel that the logical course of action would be to provide you with our time and weather tested black or red urethane flaps and continue working on perfecting the next version of the white application. This requires intensive testing to prove out the next version (which we are currently performing)

To be clear, it is very important to us all that the next incarnation of white flaps are resilient against extreme heat and UV exposure while retaining its smooth surface finish as its black/red counterparts. To ensure we achieve these goals, we are performing extensive/repeated impact, wear and color stability tests.

To that end, we want to spare you the frustration of potentially lengthy delays. You purchased mud flaps for the practical purpose of your vehicle's protection.

So, here are 2 options for your consideration:

OPTION A | Replace your white with a complimentary black or red set now (new hardware included). Kindly do confirm the logo color of choice for a black option (red, blue, white, grey, silver)
OR

OPTION B | Wait for an indefinite period of time for version 2 of the white flaps. There are zero guarantees that this color option will be available in the immediate future or at all.
OPTION B NOTES | If our tests are successful and we release them before the end of the year, we can send you new white flaps. If by the end of 2016 we have yet to release V2, we can send you a black or red replacement set. In both instances, new hardware will be included.

Let us know what your decision is and thanks again for working with us on this.

Warm regards,
Team Rally Armor
I went with option A and the Black with red logo. Can't wait to get these installed. Glad to know it wasn't just me.

Damn good customer support response if you ask me.

Default looking for white mud flaps

I'm trying to keep a more stock look & don't like them black with white lettering. Is there a solid white low profile mud flap someone would recommend?

Would you recommend the basic mudflaps from Rally Armor? Any reason to invest in the more expensive ones?

I currently have the black with red letters and was thinking of pulling the trigger on the white with red to go with a white and red theme but I'm glad I saw this thread before I actually pulled the trigger though!

Man I wish I had seen this thread before I installed mine. SO much time lost installing this on my 04 STI with me being afraid of messing up my skirts and the screws not taking all the way

I love mine! I’ve had them scrape pretty hard in a few holes but they still held up with zero cracks! Plus it gives a wider look.

Recently bought a set of UR’s and they look great. I had to go back and re adjust them i dnt like how they sometimes look uneven (like cambered out) on other cars i like them parallel to the car. Overall they look great. Keep em’ clean!

I recently bought a set of UR’s in blue. They look great! Just make sure they’re parallel to the car and not cambered looking. I had to re adjust them to be even with the car.
