Default 2021 sti break in period

Hi everyone! Scooby newbie here.
Wee
As stated in the title I’m going to be the new owner of a 2021 sti. It should arrive first week of April!

I’m now learning of the “break in” period. I currently own a 2018 forester (new) and was never told about a break In Period with that car and to be honest I just drove normally and I still do. No hard acceleration almost ever. I have 17456 miles on it as I’m about to trade it in towards the sti.

With that’s said, I’m absolutely listening and paying attending the the break in period for the sti. I’m seeing “4000rpm” as the magical number not to go over for 1k miles. I guess my question(s) is this. Did any of you guys have any issues during the break in period? I guess issues like breakdowns or leaks? Did any of you push past the 4krpm on a weekly or even daily basis? Obviously everyone’s opinion is going to be different but my main question is how strict was everyone with the break in period? Oh!...and did you guys do an oil change after the 1k miles?

On a side note, I just want to say I’m happy to have learned about the biggest Subaru forum and I’m glad I’m here. Can’t wait for the sti to be here! And can’t wait to hear your guys opinions on the break in period. Stay safe out there.
