Default 2002 WRX clutch pedal feels like brake pedal.

Hello all,
I have a 2002 wrx that has clutch problems. Originally, the clutch pedal went straight to the floor, no warnings prior. It just failed. So I installed a new master and slave cylinder and a stainless braided clutch line. It was overall a pain in the backside. Once the parts were installed, we bled the lines. I read on another thread that the best way is to unbolt the slave from the tranny. So we did that, and clamped the slave so it was completely compressed. We bled the lines until there was zero air in the system. After installing the slave cylinder again and getting everything complete, now the clutch pedal feels identical to the brake pedal. A little squishy the first 1/3rd or so, then gets very very stiff. My car won’t start so that tells me the clutch isn’t engaging. I have no idea what to do now. If there is anyone that has any insight as to why the clutch now feels like the brake pedal and won’t engage, PLEASE HELP.

Rebleed the system, and go in there and take a peek at your throwout bearing, i had a very similar issue and it was a bad throwout bearing. if its not that i would just keep reading about it! Sorry brotha dont got much more than that.

What do you mean your car won't start?

Like, the engine won't start at all? Or, it won't move when you let out the clutch while in gear with the engine running?

Can you fully depress the clutch pedal? If not, you aren't hitting the switch behind the pedal that allows the car to start when you turn the key.

What kind of clutch is in there? Stock, or something else?

Car won’t start if clutch pedal doesn’t depress enough to hit clutch safety switch.

My throw out bearing slipped out of my pressure plate on the s2000 and it took 2 full pumps to pin the slave cylinder at full stroke, once that happened the pedal got real solid and could not be depressed.

The lever your slave pushes probably missed the throw out bearing on install and your slave is now at max stroke pinned against the end of its travel.
