Is this the same timing belt as you put on at the start of this? If so that poor bastard has probably had a hard life. Might want to throw on a new belt just as an insurance policy. I’d hate to see your motor get running and then Grenade from a stretched belt. Glad you are getting closer!

FINALLY! A light at the end of this very long tunnel. So the shop replaced ALL of the cam gears even though I'm pretty sure only the driver side intake one was faulty but who knows what damage the water did... I picked it up yesterday and drove it back 30+ miles on a break-in tune and all seems well! Motor feels tight although I'm currently limited to 4k rpm and really no boost until break-in done. That being said there is one very annoying issue which is the stupid aftermarket IAG oil pan is leaking and looking at their site it looks like they released an actual gasket for those right after I purchased mine so I'm hoping they'll just send me that as the cord that used to come with it apparently doesn't seal well. Anywho when I left the shop the guy was still convinced my compression was going to be too high so I decide to figure out what it should be since I just kinda went with the machine shops build and here is what I got:
Pistons: Manley Performance Platinum Series 100mm 8.5:1 https://img.nasioc.com/image/hYVcO Head Gasket: Oem Subaru (can't seem to find the thickness) The machine shop said they took .005" off the heads and nothing off the block which to me seems negligible. My guess is this thing is pretty close to the 8.5:1 ratio? Thanks Everyone it looks like I'm almost able to enjoy this thing once these break-in miles are done and I fix that stupid leak! As of January this year yea... prior to that it was that rubber cord where you had to overlap the two ends and cut (pretty sure that is where my leak is). They were nice enough to just send me the new one for free as well as a small tube of the fujibond so I can't complain. Still sucks I gotta drop the pan again but my buddy is letting me use his lift so that should be pretty easy minus the part where you have to kinda lift the motor to access the back bolts.

Can’t remember what heads you have but this thread might help.
https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1962927 I’ve got Manley 100mm pistons in mine, the 0.005 off the heads and I believe the same taken off the deck. I used the Subaru gasket kit for my 09 wrx and have tuned it myself. I’ve compared my timing map to others I’ve found on rom raider and such and it’s pretty close to theirs so my 8.77:1 or so compression wasn’t a big kick in the teeth. TY it's been a long time coming... it's still on a break-in tune and the oil pan leaks so I garaged it till I get the new gasket in and get time to drop the pan and replace it. I also want to do a 100 mile oil change just cause I'm overly particular and want to get all the crud from the engine flooding completely out of the system. I can't wait to get a real tune on it!
