During scenarios where it's in "EV mode", the vehicle will move around at 118 hp max on electric power. During "charge mode" where the electric motors are not operating, the vehicle will move around on a maximum of 137 hp of ICE power with some going the battery charging. During hybrid operation (most of the time), the two sources will fluctuate output for maximum efficiency. As an example scenario, the system will output 110 hp ICE and 38 hp electric, assuming no charging.

It would be nice if there is a pure EV mode and even a max "performance mode" to get 255 hp combined output but that would probably require a lot of rework of the existing Crosstrek components.

At least quicker than the regular 2.0 ICE Crosstrek but slower than the 2.5 Crosstrek.

What is the throttle threshold to stay in EV mode before the ICE kicks in?
I believe it is up to 60mph before the ICE kicks in

Yes, I forgot about the new 2.5.

So, in terms of threshold, it's not official. I will say that I can comfortably drive around town, cruise at 50mph all on EV. However....if you tip in too far, maybe over 50%, you can kick on the engine...particularly up hill or if you need to take off quickly.

Our 2015 Hybrid (mild), would switch out almost immediately unless in a parking lot. The 2019 Hybrid (PHEV), will drive around town and even on the highway (under 65mph) in EV mode as long as you are linear and don't stab the pedal.

65 mph is when EV mode cannot operate, but it will be in hybrid mode, so if you coast on the highway the engine can turn off and run EV while you coast/downhill.

Am I missing the appeal beyond good environment feels and possible aesthetic preference? The RAV4 Prime would probably be my pick.

Although there's this from the Crosstrek Hybrid page on Subaru's site that's worth considering:
"The Crosstrek Hybrid qualifies you for a federal tax credit of up to $4,500 after purchase. There are a variety of other tax credits, incentives, and discounts offered by state and local governments - even from energy utilities and employers. With all that plus an estimated annual gas savings of $600[7], the Crosstrek Hybrid adds up to a smart investment for years to come."

And if a Subaru Ambassador coupon is allowed to be added on top of it (I'm not sure if a federal tax credit negates the coupon), then there's an additional $500 off right there. So not too shabby if you can get a good deal on one.

So, since we don't sell the Hybrid, the training for it is optional and i just glanced through it and haven't paid too awful much attention to it; but, isn't the fuel tank smaller on the hybrid......so, if it's getting the same range, it's doing it with less fuel.

Yes, even the old mild Hybrid had a smaller gas tank. When you combine the fuel savings of EV mode + Hybrid (Gas+Battery) you get basically the same range with less fossil juice.
