If I want to install 06-07 Subaru 2-pot calipers on an 04 WRX I know I can use ether the Kartboy adapters or 06-07 backing plate. It looks like I can get an 06 backing plate for about $50 less so I'm just wondering what the advantages and disadvantages are of going with the 06 backing plate v.s. using Kartboy adapters? It sounds like the 06 backing plate may be more work to install and might end up costing more in the long run.

I've read through this and several other H6 upgrade threads, but can't conclusively find the answer I'm looking for...

I've got a set of 98 LGT rear brakes (rotors, calipers, pads...) and am wondering if this is the same upgrade, or if they'll even fit on an 04 WRX?

I know of H6 kits, but I've read about some issues with different pads needed to be used... can someone help me find these answers?

Thanks!!

98 LGT is ther old rear pad shape D471 and the same size rotor you already have.

Most 2000-2004 Legacies have the incorrectly named 'H6" rear brakes.

Does anyone have the measurements of '06-'07 Calipers? I'm looking mostly for how far the caliper sits from the pad surface of the rotor.

Hmm, I too am trying to determine what, if any possibility there is of swapping '08+ Brembo's onto an '05-'07.

This page has been coming up in my quest to find this out. I have a 1996 Impreza LX, and in this trim, there are disc brakes on the rear. My wheel clearance is 16x7, so from what I can find, I can find a set of 02 Wrx brakes and get them installed on the front. Does the same apply for the rear? I won't be converting from drum, so is it just as easy as replacing in the rear?

You'll probably need the rear caliper AND bracket. Not sure if you can do the H6, but I don't think anything would preclude you from doing that as the H6 upgrade is better than regular '02 WRX rear brakes.

You use the same hardware, less bracket and rotor as '02. There's plenty of info on the H6 swap if you opt for it.

yes they just swap right on. 02-05 wrx rear brakes use the same rotor, but the pad shapes are different and more readily available.

2011 and 2004 wrx front brakes are indentical (even use the same pads). Rear rotors on the 11 are slightly bigger. Not worth swapping.

4-pot front + H6 rear = very good combo, but doesn't provide a much gain in overall heat capacity.

You're not quite getting it.

2006-7 and older non-US WRX are the only 4 pot front - everything else is 2 piston sliders (except STi of course)

4 pots will bolt on just about any non STi Subaru

CN: 2011 front WRX brakes do you no good
2011 rear WRX brakes do you no good - and will not fit

I've read the OP a few times so if this has already been covered I appolagize, but I have an 01 RS and I'm looking to upgrade to subaru 2 pot front / single rear. Will I need to purchase anything other than the calipers, line and rotors and if so where can I get them. And the question that I'm sure some one has already answered will they clear my stock rims?

Thanks,

-WB

2pot vs 4pot does not necessarily mean the 2pots are inferior in terms of stopping distances.

If you look at stopping distances on the street, many big brake kits actually do WORSE than OEM calipers with good pads.

4pot brakes have two more cylinders to have a potential leak or problem with, and many 4pot setups do not produce shorter stopping distances than their 2pot equivalents.

The real advantage of the 4pot red subaru calipers is the ability to swap out the pads without removing the calipers, that is a huge huge bonus for people who autox or track their cars often.
