Default CNT V3 Equal Length header review

I recently removed my CNT V3 ELH to install an APS twin scroll setup, so I figured I would post a review of them for others' information.

According to my phone, I installed them early January of 2020, must have been a Christmas present to myself last year. That would mean they have about 7-8k miles on them. I swapped out an old set of CNT V2's for these because I simply liked the look more. The V2's treated me just fine, see my review of those here.

The setup on my car is (was) a Rock Steady Tuning rotated kit and a GTX3582r with an AGP .82 hot side. I have a rods/pistons motor with built heads and ARP 625's so my tuner (Torqued Performance) kept the boost pretty conservative in order to preserve the motor, at about 27-28 psi. I'm also at Denver altitude. I street drive the car, never taken it to the track and don't have a huge specific purpose for the car outside of enjoying driving it.

The car was dyno'd back in November at Cryotune Performance for a baseline. He has a Mustang dyno that is simply soul crushing when it comes to numbers. A stock STi will put down ~210 whp and a FBO STi on e85 will run low 300's. This is for relativity's sake, since most people would expect to see mid to high 300's on e85 and FBO. My Forester baselined at 516/457 and has no problems taking down other STi's that make up to 600 hp on other local dynos. Of course I'll upload the dyno sheet to showcase spool and the power curve.

I've been extremely happy with these headers; definitely the best low-cost option in my opinion. I've run the Invidia ELH with a similar setup and the design of the CNT V3 looks extremely similar to the Invidia. I have my oil cooler deleted and a steel Moroso oil pan too so fitment was not an issue.

Anyway, to keep things short, I love these headers and if you can get your paws on a set, I would recommend it. The flanges were not warped and seemed to seal just fine using quality gaskets, not the ones included with the headers.

Merry Christmas y'all!

Sure looks like the driver side is leaking pretty good. Passenger side looks like a cold leak. What's the 2-bolt gasket surface look like? That's typically where leaks are worst.

Is that Nick? This is the Foz we talked about on the phone the other day. I found quite a bit of oil in my intercooler piping. Thoughts?

What's a cold leak?

They were used OEM gaskets from head to manifold. Torqued to the FSM spec 29 lb/ft, but I did find that the center nuts were somewhat loose upon removal yesterday. Maybe with the flex head sockets the torque wasn't the same or something. The flanges seem to be square using a straight edge.

A cod leak is a leak between two metal surfaces that goes away once the parts involved expand from heat.

Interesting on that flange. Looks rusty. Is it carbon? Are the others carbon steel too? See if a magnet sticks to it.

Magnet sticks to all flanges.

I often notice water/condensation in the exhaust especially when it's cold. Side effect of e85?

USED exhaust gaskets?!? That would explain the leaks mentioned.

Oh well. I don't blame the flanges.

No fitment photos unfortunately. I have this one that shows the clearance of the oil filter with a sandwich plate installed for my oil pressure/temp sensors, but that's it:

Why do you ask about the u frame? Have you encountered having to modify that to fit a header before? Maybe like a Manzo or something ultra crappy. But this fits fine...I have a deleted oil cooler is all.
